1. TV Shows We Wish Got Another Season
Once in a while, a really great TV show comes around. The critics rave, the fans go
gaga – and yet the show still gets canceled. What goes through the heads of
network executives that decide to axe fantastic shows before their times? We may
never know, but that doesn’t mean fans are going to stop complaining anytime
soon about being deprived of additional seasons of their dearly departed shows.
For example, take Firefly, a prime example of a TV show that desperately
deserved, at the very least, a full season. Firefly was a space western that originally
aired in 2002 on Fox. Created by Joss Whedon, the creator of the wildly popular
and influential TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly follows the adventures
of the nine crew members and passengers of the Firefly-class spaceship Serenity. A
total of fourteen episodes were produced, but only eleven ever aired on television.
Fans, devastated when the show was canceled, quickly launched a series of
activities designed to persuade Fox to renew the show. They weren’t able to
change Fox’s mind, but they raised enough of a hullabaloo to catch Universal
Studios’ attention, resulting in the film Serenity coming out in 2005.
Unfortunately, the odds of Firefly continuing in another film or TV series are slim.
One show that people have been mourning for a good two decades is Twin Peaks,
which aired for two seasons from 1990 to 1991 on ABC. Created by David Lynch,
Twin Peaks is often regarded as one of the best TV shows of all time. The show
focuses on the FBI investigation of the murder of a teenager in the town of Twin
Peaks. During its first season, Twin Peaks was a wildly popular hit; however, by
season two, ratings began to decline. ABC put the show on hiatus even though
there were six episodes left to air. Successful fan efforts convinced ABC to
eventually air the final episodes, but not to renew the series for another season,
which resulted in the series ending on an unresolved cliffhanger. In 1992, Lynch
released the prequel film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me and reportedly planned
to do to more films. By 2001 though, Lynch stated that he would not be continuing
the Twin Peaks franchise.
A third show that never got as much screen time as it deserved is Pushing Daisies.
This show aired on ABC for two seasons from 2007 to 2009. Created by Bryan
Fuller, Pushing Daisies is about a pie-maker who has the ability to bring dead
things back to life by his touch. The show covers the various shenanigans that the
pie-maker and his friends get into as they investigate murders courtesy of the pie-
maker’s remarkable talent. Pushing Daisies earned twelve Emmy award
nominations during its first season, but it still got cancelled. Sadly, although the

2. final episodes of the series attempt to conclude the show so viewers are not left
hanging, the episodes don’t really provide a proper narrative conclusion. Fuller has
plans to continue the series in the form of comics books and possibly a film.
