- Intro:The focus of my AR project is to improve communication between parents and teachers. Originally my research began with the development and integration of technology in education. I chose to direct my attention to the incorporation of a blog in classroom and training environments. A blog allows for real time communication that connects parents to the learning activities in the classroom. Continuing to integrate students and community members into the process of supporting students success engages and initiates a new conversation about education.
- Literature Review: Malhotra, Galleta, and Kirsh (2008) introduced how factors based on internal views and external influences identifying how technology is implemented. The factors identified directly influenced feelings of autonomy, combinations of perceptions, and impeded conflict. The proposed direction was to motivate people to use technology by supporting their endogenous tendencies. Leading to better relationships with one’s social groups and more effective behavioral performance.
- Methodology: My field work on this subject was preformed in various personal and professional peer groups. Although I did not maintain a formal classroom experience I was able to solicit and engage in many experiences that stretched beyond specific learning objectives and across geographical boundaries. I did this by invoking face to face discussions and online virtual discussions using several social media tools. For example, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Blogger, and Wordpress. Each of these experiences offered me practical and relevant information as it provided for open communication rather than traditional instruction.
- Results: The results were vast and difficult to summarize however, my survey’s were able to analyze active classroom teachers, prior to being technology trained and post technology training, to determine a change in the perceptions and motivation of learners from implementing a Web 2.0 tool. There was a 10% increase in communication between parents and teachers by incorporating a blog.
- Conclusion; The results were vast and difficult to summarize however, my survey’s were able to analyze active classroom teachers, prior to being technology trained and post technology training, to determine a change in the perceptions and motivation of learners from implementing a Web 2.0 tool. There was a 10% increase in communication between parents and teachers by incorporating a blog. Even more valuable was the inspiration among teachers to want to share and create lesson plans together and invite professional collaborators into their classroom activities.
