2016OCTOBER
DEAR FRIEND
Happy fall! Things have been busy and exciting for the Luxe
Homes Team lately. We are very pleased to announce that we
have been awarded the National Builder Trade In Program for
Denver, CO, Oklahoma City, OK, and Dallas, TX. The program
simplifies the process of selling a current house and purchasing
a newly constructed home. Through this program, our agents
can help homeowners who’ve been unable to sell and provide
them with new options.
Coinciding with the acquirement of the BTIP licenses, the Luxe
Homes Team will be expanding into the market of Denver,
Colorado. Our new expansion partner, Chris Smith, will lead an
expansion team in the Denver Downtown Keller Williams office.
See inside to learn more about our newest partner.
Sincerely,
Ray and Joy Rice

3 Fright Fest at Six Flags
Six Flags turns up the terror at dusk in October. Guests will
have to make their way through 6 scare zones across the park
to get to the next ride. Experience four terrifying mazes with
themes such as an insane asylum and a circus with murderous clowns. Even
the rides themselves take on more sinister themes after dark. One of the many
spooky rides is Rage of the Gargoyles, the world’s first fully integrated virtual
reality coaster.
4 Celebrate Dia de los Muertos: Denton’s Day of the Dead Festival
Pay homage to this Mexican holiday on October 29. You can be the
judge in the salsa tasting competition, and take on all-you-can
handle chips and salsa. As the sun is setting, take part in the Twilight
Lantern Parade—just wear your finest costume and bring your own
paper lantern or puppet. If you’re in for a little fright and a lot of
laughter, you can attend the Cirque Du Horror performance. The
most popular event at this festival is the coffin races, where you can
cheer on your favorite teams as they race down the street.
5 Boo at the Zoo
Halloween-themed activities and entertainment are located all throughout the
Fort Worth Zoo October 28-30. Dress up and stop at the trick or treat stations
throughout the park. In addition to seeing all the animals, you can listen in
to Dracula the Heckler, find out what Matilda the Witch is cooking up
in her cauldron, or even learn something new at the Fantastical
Beasts show.

INGREDIENTS:
2 Sticks unsalted butter, softened
2/3 CUP Packed brown sugar
2 2/3 cups All-purpose flour
1/2 tsp Salt
1 Stick unsalted butter
1 CUP Packed light brown sugar
1/3 CUP Honey
2 Tbsp Heavy cream
2 CUPS Chopped pecans
DIRECTIONS
1. Preheat the oven to 350ºF & line a
9×13-inch pan with foil, leaving enough
for a 2-inch overhang on all sides.
2. First make the crust by creaming
together the butter & brown sugar until
fluffy in a stand mixer fitted with the
paddle attachment.
3. Add flour and salt & mix until crumbly.
4. Press the crust into the foil-lined
pan & bake for 20 minutes until golden
brown.
5. While the crust bakes, prepare the
filling by combining the butter, brown
sugar, honey & heavy cream in a
saucepan & stirring it over medium heat.
Simmer the mixture for 1 minute, then
stir in the chopped pecans.
6. Remove the crust from the oven &
immediately pour the pecan filling over
the hot crust spreading it to cover the
entire surface.
7. Return the pan to the oven & bake an
additional 20 minutes.
8. Remove the pan & allow the bars to
fully cool in the pan.
9. Use the foil overhang to lift out the
bars & transfer them to a cutting board.
10. Peel off foil, slice into bars & serve.

Trade in your home
just like a car
Unsurprisingly, the State Fair of TX is huge. There are a ton of things to see,
do, and eat! That’s why we’ve put together a guide to help you navigate the
fair. With so much to do, you can easily visit more than once; after all…it’s the
longest running fair in the nation!
EAT FAIR FOOD: It wouldn’t be the state fair without lots of fair food. But
here in Texas we like to take things to a whole new level. There are many unusual
fried foods and creative concoctions available. If you don’t know where to start,
try the 2016 State Fair of Texas’ Big Tex® Choice Awards winners:
Best Taste- Fried Jello: It’s no surprise that the winning dish was something
fried. This remake of a delightful childhood treat has “the perfect amount of
crunch to compliment the jiggle.”
Most creative- State Fair Cookie Fries: At a glance these may look like your
regular crinkle cut fries, but don’t go dipping them in ketchup! These fries come
in standard cookie flavors and are served with strawberry or chocolate sauce.
Just a few of the other wild foods include: Injectable Great Balls of BBQ, Deep
Fried Bacon Burger Dog Slider on a Stick, and Caribbean Pineapple Korn-a-
Copia. With so many fun choices, be sure to try at least one unusual food while
you are there.
JAM OUT: The fair features 24 days of free concerts on the main stage. It’s a
fun atmosphere and there are some big name acts, including Ben Rector, Nelly,
& Skillet.
MEET THE BUDWEISER CLYDESDALES: After an 11-year hiatus, these
magnificent horses are back at the state fair. Visit the stables and see them up
close as well as learn about their history. You can also meet many more animals
in the state fair livestock barns and watch a number of animal shows.
SEE BIG TEX’S NEW DUDS: Of course, make sure to take a photo with Big
Tex! This year, Big Tex has a brand new outfit. It took two weeks to make his
55-foot-tall shirt and his jeans alone weigh about 100 pounds. His shirt also
pays a special tribute to the Dallas police officers who were killed in July. Be
sure to check out his boots as well- they are pretty spiffy!
CHECK OUT AN EXHIBIT: You can Step inside the Sistine Chapel…almost.
Appearing in the U.S. for the first time, “Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel-The
Exhibition” recreates one of the famous artistic achievements in its original
size. The creative arts building features many unique displays, including a giant
butter sculpture. This year, “The Taylor Swift Experience” has also traveled to
the state fair.
