The World Pharmacists Day is celebrated by
Pharmacists to promote their commitment to organize
activities that promote & advocate for the role of the
Pharmacists in improving health in all parts of the
world.

2. INTRODUCTION
The International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP),
The global federation of national associations of pharmacists &
pharmaceuticals scientist, came into existence on September 25, 1912.
The FIP council in Istanbul, Turkey, in 2009 suggested to observe the
pharmacist Day on September 25th
because on the day FIP came into
existence. Hence, we celebrated World Pharmacists Day on September
25th
.
“Let’s appreciate the efforts of Pharmacist on this
special day with our warm greeting.”
World pharmacist days main aim is to encourage the role & activities
of the pharmacist in improving health an in every part of the world.
The “Father of Pharmacy” is ‘Aelius Galenius
aka Galen of Pergamon’ is a Greek physician, surgeon &
philosopher in the Roman empire, his name is still associated with
Galenical’s.
3. Transforming Global
Health
“Transforming Global Health” is the main theme of
this year’s World Pharmacists Day.
“This year sees our 10th
World Pharmacists Day. We aim to
show how pharmacists contribute to a world where everyone benefits
from access to safe, effective, quality & affordable medicines & health
technologies, as well as from pharmaceuticals care services”, said FIP
President “Dominique Jordan”.
The world pharmacist day theme this year is an opportunity to
communicate how pharmacists are transforming health through a
variety of health services in their communities, including advising on
ensuring that medicines are taken correctly, thereby it also covers how
pharmaceuticals scientists transform & prolong people’s lives by
developing safe & effective medicines and vaccines.
On the outcome by ensuring that there are enough qualified &
competent pharmacists & scientists to meet the growing needs of our
societies.
Pharmacists are the most accessible healthcare professional (for
example: in the USA>90% of peoples live within 5 miles of a
pharmacists.
Pharmacists user their broad knowledge & unique expertise to ensure
that people get the best from their medicines.
4. COVID-19 PANDEMIC
This situation surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic will
continue to change & evolve, what will not change is
our Society’s commitments to do everything we can to
support our members.
ISOPP is therefore committed to collecting and sharing COVID-19
cancer care resources.
We are delighted to share resources which provide COVID-19 guidance
from various regulators to knowledge support to pharmacists &
patients for cancer care during this pandemic.
“This is particularly timely as well as face the
challenges of the COVID-19 Pandemic”.
5. Research &
Achievements
During the discovery research phase of development of a medicine
pharmacist will work with other scientists to develop & select drug
compounds that may e valuable as medicines. They will also help the
project team, which might include medicinal chemists & other to
understands the biopharmaceuticals properties of the compounds, the
dosage form & how the route of administration might affect the rate &
extent of absorption.
Within clinical research, pharmacist can help assess the safety &
efficacy of new medicines. Skills learnt during pharmacy training allow
them to contribute to the entire clinical trial process rom planning the
trials, developing the prototype formulation for administration first in
animals & later for trials in humans, the production, packaging,
labelling & supply of the medicine to clinical researchers, through to
the monitoring & reporting of complex studies.
The pharmacists can also become involved in other roles within
manufacturing, sales, marketing & patenting.
Manufacturing requires the traditional skills of the pharmacists in
compounding the drug form & brings with in increasing demands, as
new technologies move into the market place.
A pharmacist is well placed to become an expert here, providing the
facts, figures & opinions that go it creating & supporting new products.
With enquiries relating to fields as diverse as pharmacokinetics,
therapeutics, physical or chemical characteristics, formulation, stability
or production, huge range of skills is called for.
6. Beyond the Ward
Of course, hospital pharmacists’ duties Can extend beyond the word
too.
Pharmacists are responsible for monitoring the supply of all medicines
used in the hospital & are in charge of purchasing, manufacturing,
dispensing & along with help from pharmacy assistants & pharmacy
technicians.
Activities of a Pharmacist:
❑ Managing pharmacy-related services and logistics 24/7.
❑ Prescribing medications & ensuring their safety & efficacy.
❑ Reporting all the potential DRPs to the SFDA.
❑ Managing medication store & planning for medication
budgets.
❑ Providing drug information services.
‘Alexander Fleming’ changed the world with his discovery of Penicillin
1928.
The well-known pharmacist “DR. Joseph Dipiro wrote the pharmacy
textbook.
❑ Coca-Cola, Pepsi invented by Dr. Pepper & Ginger Ale Well
Known Pharmacist.
7. Conclusion
Pharmacist day is very memorable to feel our role in the world by they
are in this profession, it will be memorable for use also.
Let’s discuss the man important in the present day in COVID-19 they
gave his time or do work with honesty.
“The Pharmacists are the backbone of health care in many different
settings. Providing care does not begin in community or hospital
pharmacies but talking care of patients starts with recognizing the
health issues of population & developing medicines, policies &
education to tackle them.”
Pharmacists also help people to improve their health & prevent illness
by using their knowledge & learning. They provide the required
medical assistance to the patient by giving the right medicine along
with information about dosage.
On World Pharmacists Day there are multiple activities organized
across the world to mark the importance of a pharmacists for every
individual.
“The theme of 2020 is “Transforming Global Health”, it
is an important way to describe your role or apart of the pharmacists
for the whole world.”
