7. BACK TO INDIA
In 1957 , large Indian community off
Hindu and Parsi Gujaratis preparing to
move to India
At the end of 1958,the news paper
coming from India were a rather gloomy
picture that country starting new five year
plan with RS 10,000-crore with promises
to give opportunities for growth for the
country’s youth

10. TAKING OPPORTUNITIES
In the 1950s, Yemini administration realized
that their main unit of currency, the Rial, was
disappearing fast.
During their investigation they found that a
Gujarati young man in his twenties was
placing unlimited buy orders for Yemini Rials
.
Yemini Rials made of pure silver and was
much demand in London Bulion Exchange.
Young Dhirubhai bought the Rials, melted
them into pure silver and sold to bulion
traders in london
11. HIS FIRST ENTERPRISE IN INDIA
He started trading business in
partnership with champaklal Damani ,his
second cousin.
Reliance Commercial Corporation was set
up at the Narsinthan street in Masjid
Bunder.
It was 350 sq.ft room with a telephone,
one table and three chairs
Initially, they had two assistants to help
them.
13. After trading in a range of products,
pilimarily spices and fabrics , for eight

He achieved the first of the many goals.

mill at Naroda, near Ahmedabad.

manufacturing for the first time.
He setteled on a 10000 sq mts plot, In a
new industrial estate developed by the
gujarat state government at Naroda, on
the fringes of Ahmedabad.
It was very small,only about 20 people in
the whole factory.

Company recorded sales RS 9 million and
yielding a net profit of RS 1.3 million.
After decade in 1977 it’s turnover of RS
680 million and profit of RS 105 million.

16. FIRST PUBLIC OFFERING
In 1977, Reliance Industries went to
public and raised equity capital from ten
of thousands of investors many of them
located in small towns.
He started textile brand name ‘Vimal’.
He inagurated the retail outlet of as
many 100 franchises.
More than 58,000 investors from various
parts of India subscribed to Reliance IPO
in 1977
17. Reliance Industries was the first private
sector company whose Annual General
Meeting were held in stadium in 1986.

billion
