ABOUT NHPC
• NHPC Limited (Formerly known as National
Hydroelectric Power Corporation Ltd.), a Govt.
of India Enterprise, was incorporated in the year
1975.

• Since then, NHPC commissioned 24 Nos. of
Projects with an installed capacity of 7071 MW
which includes two projects having aggregate
Installed capacity of 1520 MW set up in joint
venture with Govt. of Madhya Pradesh through
subsidiary company NHDC Ltd.

CONTRACT LABOUR SYSTEM/

• NHPC do not engage Contract Labour directly.
• Works Contract or Service Contract awarded to
Contractors after following the tender process.
• Contractors engage the Contract Labour as per
their requirement.

CONTRACT LABOUR (R&A) ACT,1970
ठे का श्रम (विवियमि और उन्मूलि) अविवियम,1970
• The main object of the Act is to regulate and
improve the conditions of Service of Contract
Labour.
• Prevent exploitation of Contract Labour.

• The Person or Firm or Agency who engaged the
Contract Workers is the Employer-Contractor.

PRINCIPAL EMPLOYER/

• Any person responsible for the supervision and
control of the Establishment.
• NHPC is Principal Employer

PAYMENT OF WAGES/
मजदू री का भुगताि
• Wages are being paid according to the provisions of
the Payment of Wages Act, 1936 / Minimum Wages
Act, 1948.
• Rates of wages as notified by Appropriate Govt. is
being paid to the Contract Workers.

MODE & TIME OF PAYMENT
भुगताि का समय और तरीका
• Payment to contractors workers engaged by the
contractors against various service / R&M contracts
are made by directly crediting the same in the bank
accounts of the concerned contract workers.
• It is ensured that payment to contract workers made
latest by 7th day of succeeding month.

• The Act extends to whole of India except the State of
Jammu & Kashmir.
• The main objective of the Act is to protect the
interest of the employees after their retirement and
their dependents after death of the employee.
• All employees (Regular/Contract/Casual) are
covered under the Act.

under certain circumstances and also for
certain life events.
•EPFO provides capital/loan for building of
house/payment of EMIs of home loan/

• Entitlement for Pension after 10 years of service
& on attaining the age of 50 years.
• Minimum Pension of Rs. 1000/-.
• Pension admissible to dependants: Widow,

BENEFITS OF EDLI SCHEME
• All employees who are the members of EPF are
automatically eligible for EDLI.
• Life Insurance coverage is irrespective of death
occurred during working hours or non-working
hours.
• It covers the death of an employee, irrespective of
a cause of death.
• Maximum benefit of life insurance set under EDLI
is Rs.6,00,000/- & Minimum Rs.250000/-

• Single account number allotted by EPFO
• The UAN once allotted remains for lifelong
• Cease multiple Member IDs allotted to an
Individual

registered mobile number will provide the details.
• Make sure that your UAN is seeded with your Bank
Account, Aadhar & PAN

• The m-sewa app of EPFO can be downloaded from
Google Play Store.
• Click on “Member” and then on “Balance/
Passbook”
• Enter UAN & Password

PENSIONERS PORTAL/UMANG
APP
• View Pension Passbook service for Pensioners
• Pensioners Portal at EPFO Website
• Members will be informed, if contribution not
deposited by Employers
• Launch of E-Nomination facility

MULTIPLE UAN-HOW TO MERGE
METHOD-1
• Report to your current Employer & EPFO using the
E-mail ID: uanepf@epfindia.gov.in
• Mention the old UAN as well as new UAN
• Verification will be conducted over time
• Upon successful verification, the old UAN will be
blocked and new UAN will stay active
• Finally submit a claim for transfer of funds to new
UAN

MULTIPLE UAN-HOW TO MERGE
METHOD-II
• Employee will submit a request for transfer of EPF from
old UAN to new UAN (Online using OTCP)
• EPFO system will automatically identify such duplicate
UAN where EPF transfer generated
• Old UAN will be deactivated
• Old EPF account will be linked with new UAN
• Employee will receive SMS in his registered mobile
number

OBJECTIVE OF THE ACT
• AIMS TO PROVIDE WORKMEN AND/OR THEIR
DEPENDENTS SOME RELIEF IN CASE OF
ACCIDENTS ARISING OUT OF AND IN THE COURSE
