administration as Florida's governor was distinguished by a number of
controversial policy shifts. His conservative attitude on subjects like gun control,
immigration, and environmental policy has earned him praise and criticism for his

The COVID-19 pandemic was a watershed milestone in DeSantis' tenure as
governor. It was contentious that he decided to keep Florida open during the

complete lockdown would have too many negative effects on the economy.
DeSantis made great accomplishments in the education sector, enacting laws to

His work was not, however, without its share of scandal. His policies towards
environmental protection, especially his stance on global warming, were widely
panned. Despite this, DeSantis has demonstrated his dedication to fixing water
quality problems and rebuilding the Everglades.
In 2023, DeSantis declared his candidacy for president. But there were several
bumps in the road during his campaign. His Twitter debut was marred by glitches
that caused a social media uproar. DeSantis was unfazed by the early failures,
laughing off the Twitter debacle in a Fox News interview.
The presidential campaign he's running looks to be just as exciting as his time as
governor. DeSantis is an interesting candidate to keep an eye on in the future
presidential contest thanks to his conservative beliefs and risk-taking style of
government. There's a big question hanging over him as he makes his way onto
the national stage: Will his record as Florida governor help or hurt his chances at
the presidency?
