Collection development process is a continuous process from acquisition to weed out the old and useless documents. There are six elements in collection development process. 1 User needs analysis 2 Policies development 3 Selection 4 Acquisition 5 Evaluation 6 weeding First, a librarian should analyse the requirement of the students and faculty. Second, select the documents for library according to the requirements of the students and faculty. Third, a library have some policies to inform the users about the latest collection. Fourth, librarian recieves the recommendation from the faculty/students , check the existing collection to avoid duplication compiles the list of recommended materials , select vendor , places order with vendors , etc . Fifth, some library evalution method include the checklist methods , circulation and inter-library loan statistics , citation analysis network usage analysis , vendors-supplied statistics and faculty opinion . sixth, weeding involve removal of library material from the collections based on some determined conditions .
