INTRODUCTION
 3GPP is a collaboration of several groups which is responsible for
developing LTE referred to as 4th generation of access technology.
 Long Term Evolution (LTE) is the fourth generation of radio access
technology, also referred to as 4G.
 LTE is IP based technology where voice and data services are delivered
in packets as compared to the Legacy networks.
 3GPP, which has developed several mobile radio standards over the
years and were widely used.
HISTORY
 4G is the latest and fastest generation of mobile phone communications.
 4G is based on same 3G Technology with improvements named as LTE.
 LTE was first used in Sweden in 2009.
 4G speed ranges from 100MB/s to 1GB/s. LTE stands for Long Term
Evolution.
 4G is the next generation mobile broadband technology.
 It promises data transfer rates of 100 Mbps and is based on UMTS 3G
technology.
 It is optimized for All-IP traffic.

 5G innovation offer high determination for insane mobile phone
client and bi-directional extensive data transfer capacity molding.
 5G innovation offer transporter class passage with unparalleled
consistency.
 Battery Consumption Alleviation
 Improved scope range and higher information rate accessibility at
cell edge.
 Multiple simultaneous ways for information transmission also, hand
over.
 5G gives backing to intelligent sight and sound, voice, video,
Internet, and other broadband administrations

 Another important aspect of LTE is that it provides spectrum flexibility.
 Radio spectrum for LTE mobile communication comes in different sizes
depending on the regulatory aspects for each geographical location.
 LTE provides asymmetric spectrum utilization by using different uplink and
downlink bandwidths.
 LTE can also assign different bandwidths to operate in spectrums of
different bandwidths to enable migration to LTE from other radio access
technologies.
 Cell sizes can range from 1-100km.
OFDM Advantages
 Adaptable to severe channel conditions without complex equalization.
 High spectral efficiency.
 Efficient implementation using FFT.
 Low sensitivity to time synchronization errors.
 Facilitates Single Frequency Networks(SFNs), i.e. transmitter macrodiversity.

Advantages of 4G
 Affordable Communication Services.
 High speed, high capacity and low cost per bit.
 Support for interactive multimedia, voice, streaming video, Internet and
other broadband services.
 Better spectral efficiency.
 Seamless network of multiple protocol and air interfaces.
 Higher bandwidth.
 Better response time. 10 times better than 3G.
 Works at 2.6 GHz frequency.
Disadvantages of 4G
 New technology which makes it more expensive than 3G.
 Battery usage is more.
 Hard to implement.
 Need complicated hardware.
 The equipment required to implement a next generation network is still
very expensive.
 Carriers and providers have to plan carefully that expenses are kept
realistic.
Why 4G over 3G?
 4G(lte) is quicker than 3G.
 4G plus network uses the 1800 &
2300 MHz frequency bands.
 3G plus network uses the 900 &
2100 MHz frequency bands.
 4G holds:
 less buffering,
 better audio quality,
 improved gaming experience
 Streaming services with reduced
lag.

 Faster data transmissions that of the previous generations.
 Large phone memory, dialing speed, clarity in audio/video.
 Support interactive multimedia, voice, streaming video, Internet and other.
 5G is more effective and more attractive.
CHALLENGES
 No large user community for advanced mobile data applications.
 Comparatively higher cost to use and deploy infrastructure.
 Not possible to offer full internet experience due to limited speed and
bandwidth.
 Improved User interfaces.
 Advanced speech recognition and synthesis.
SWOT ANALYSIS
 STRENGTHS
 Strong position of telecom vendors expected in market.
 Advantage for personalized multimedia communication tools.
 WEAKNESSES
 Growing divergence between telecom vendors an operators.
 Comparatively higher cost to use and deploy infrastructure.

 Desirable higher data capacity rates the growth opportunity is very bright
and hopeful.

 Since 3G mobile is still in the market, it squeezes the market competition
in mobile industry.
Future trend of LTE(5G)
 5G technology refer to short name of fifth generation.
 Complete wireless communication with no limitations.
 It is highly supportable to WWWW( Wireless World Wide Web).
 5G envisions to design a wireless world, that is free from obstacles of the
earlier generations.
 5G requires an integration of networks.
CONCLUSION
 Evolution to LTE-Advance from LTE was done to meet the requirements set
by IMT-Advance.
 LTE has provided a good foundation for an evolution in mobile radio
communications industry.
 Attempt has been made to reduce a no of technologies to a single global
standard.
 Mobile Intelligent Internet and multimedia applications.
 4G is best as compared with its predecessors.

INTRODUCTION  3GPP is a collaboration of several groups which is responsible for developing LTE referred to as 4th generation of access technology.  Long Term Evolution (LTE) is the fourth generation of radio access technology, also referred to as 4G.  LTE is IP based technology where voice and data services are delivered in packets as compared to the Legacy networks.  3GPP, which has developed several mobile radio standards over the years and were widely used.

HISTORY  4G is the latest and fastest generation of mobile phone communications.  4G is based on same 3G Technology with improvements named as LTE.  LTE was first used in Sweden in 2009.  4G speed ranges from 100MB/s to 1GB/s. LTE stands for Long Term Evolution.  4G is the next generation mobile broadband technology.  It promises data transfer rates of 100 Mbps and is based on UMTS 3G technology.  It is optimized for All-IP traffic.

Spectrum Flexibility  Another important aspect of LTE is that it provides spectrum flexibility.  Radio spectrum for LTE mobile communication comes in different sizes depending on the regulatory aspects for each geographical location.  LTE provides asymmetric spectrum utilization by using different uplink and downlink bandwidths.  LTE can also assign different bandwidths to operate in spectrums of different bandwidths to enable migration to LTE from other radio access technologies.  Cell sizes can range from 1-100km.

  • 10. Technologies used in 4G  Smart Antennas for Multiple-input and multiple output(MIMO).  IPv6  VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol)  OFDM  Software Defined Radio (SDR) system.

Advantages of 4G  Affordable Communication Services.  High speed, high capacity and low cost per bit.  Support for interactive multimedia, voice, streaming video, Internet and other broadband services.  Better spectral efficiency.  Seamless network of multiple protocol and air interfaces.  Higher bandwidth.  Better response time. 10 times better than 3G.  Works at 2.6 GHz frequency.
  • 12. Disadvantages of 4G  New technology which makes it more expensive than 3G.  Battery usage is more.  Hard to implement.  Need complicated hardware.  The equipment required to implement a next generation network is still very expensive.  Carriers and providers have to plan carefully that expenses are kept realistic.
  • 13. Why 4G over 3G?  4G(lte) is quicker than 3G.  4G plus network uses the 1800 & 2300 MHz frequency bands.  3G plus network uses the 900 & 2100 MHz frequency bands.  4G holds:  less buffering,  better audio quality,  improved gaming experience  Streaming services with reduced lag.
  • 14. Basic Applications of 4G  Virtual Presence.  Virtual Navigation.  Better usage of multimedia applications.  Crisis management application.  Security  Tele geoprocessing, telemedicine

Benefits of 5G  High speed, high capacity.  5G technology providing large broadcasting of data in Gbps.  Faster data transmissions that of the previous generations.  Large phone memory, dialing speed, clarity in audio/video.  Support interactive multimedia, voice, streaming video, Internet and other.  5G is more effective and more attractive.
  • 17. CHALLENGES  No large user community for advanced mobile data applications.  Comparatively higher cost to use and deploy infrastructure.  Not possible to offer full internet experience due to limited speed and bandwidth.  Improved User interfaces.  Advanced speech recognition and synthesis.
  • 18. SWOT ANALYSIS  STRENGTHS  Strong position of telecom vendors expected in market.  Advantage for personalized multimedia communication tools.  WEAKNESSES  Growing divergence between telecom vendors an operators.  Comparatively higher cost to use and deploy infrastructure.
  • 19. CONTD…..  Opportunities  Worldwide economy cover stimulates consumption and consumer confidence.  Desirable higher data capacity rates the growth opportunity is very bright and hopeful.  Threats  Since 3G mobile is still in the market, it squeezes the market competition in mobile industry.
  • 20. Future trend of LTE(5G)  5G technology refer to short name of fifth generation.  Complete wireless communication with no limitations.  It is highly supportable to WWWW( Wireless World Wide Web).  5G envisions to design a wireless world, that is free from obstacles of the earlier generations.  5G requires an integration of networks.
  • 21. CONCLUSION  Evolution to LTE-Advance from LTE was done to meet the requirements set by IMT-Advance.  LTE has provided a good foundation for an evolution in mobile radio communications industry.  Attempt has been made to reduce a no of technologies to a single global standard.  Mobile Intelligent Internet and multimedia applications.  4G is best as compared with its predecessors.
