Summary
Problem-solving, doing whatever it takes to find a prompt solution. Awareness of having approachable
customer-facing and communications skills. Welcome new challenges and adapt to change readily. Self-
motivation and organizational abilities to undertake tasks independently and to deliver these to schedule,
within a wide range of environments. My experience ranges over a 20-year IT career. Large part of my field
service work with Unisys took place in large data centres and could include full replacement and partial
configuration of SAN arrays and switches, including fibre and networking infrastructure. In summary, a
basic/base setup of the switches or SANS was carried out, ready to hand over to the customer. For new
storage nodes, we would run diagnostics before adding in its permanent IP address to the new node which
would be supplied by the customer, then adding in all subsequent stacked nodes.

Role=Lead Engineer
Lantec/Wincor Nixdorf
Tel: 01582 866999. Unit 10, Lovett Way, Woodside Estate, Dunstable, Bedfordshire, LU5 4TU
Line manager Bob South
lead installation Engineer for Lantec/Wincor working on a Regus project. This involves Installation of
IT equipment firewalls, voice- over IP, Routers, switches , desktop PCs .This is mainly rack and stack
with connectivity to a remote network team who configure the new kit over 3G tethered Laptops and
Teamviewer.
I mainly Setup new installations of Regus business/virtual offices across Europe including providing
all training to Engineers across Europe and UK . Most installs take between 3 to 10 days depending on
size, most involed working away from home every day in Europe . New install (NCOS) Sites so far
have been Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Aberdeen , Edinburgh, Madrid , Barcelona, Prague, Brussels plus
various training weeks for other Lantec/ Wincor Nixdorf engineers in Milton Keynes.
I did not get involved with high level configuration but only scripted setup, hardware installation. this was the
same for the routers and switches. This was because most of the equipment was pre-staged. I was there to
add initial IP address , gateway and DNS information so the remote config team could connect to the routers
and firewalls. I also configured IP and gateways of the DELL IDRAC / RAC Remote Access cards of the Dell
servers, IP subnet and GW of remote console devices fitted and many other devices including desktops,
printers , scanners, and adding in Meraki WiFi transceiver https://meraki.cisco.com/ . The Cisco IP phones
were auto loaded with a pre made script from the VOIP cloud asterisk server, so again due to the time
constraints high level config was not done by myself, only the hardware with IP address subnets GW and DNS
entries.
