Sri Sri Guru-astakam
                              by Srila Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura

Srila Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura, who appeared in the middle of the seventeenth century, is a
great spiritual master in the Krishna conscious chain of gurus and disciples. He says, quot; One who,
with great care and attention, loudly recites this beautiful prayer to the spiritual master during
the Brahma-muhurta [the early morning hour before sunrise] obtains direct service to Krishna,
                         the Lord of Vrndavana, at the time of his death.quot;

    Sri Sri Radha-Krsna.
Whoever takes shelter of you has his wishes fulfilled. Bestowing your mercy on him, you make him
    a resident of Vrndavana.

• My desire is that you will also grant me a residence in the pleasure groves of Sri Vrndavana-dhama.
Thus, within my vision I will always behold the beautiful pastimes of Radha and Krsna.

• I beg you to make me a follower of the cowherd damsels of Vraja. Please give me the privilege of
devotional service and make me your own maidservant.

• This very fallen and lowly servant of Krsna prays, ''May I always swim in the love of Sri Radha and

• Vrnda devi is a pure devotee of Lord Krsna and is responsible for setting up the wonderful
pastimes of Radha and Krsna in Vrndavana. She exists as Tulasi to benefit the fallen
conditioned souls by bestowing devotional service to Krsna.

• I offer my respectful obeisances unto the Vaishnava devotees of the Lord. They are
just like desire trees and can fulfill the desires of everyone, and they are full of
compassion for the fallen conditioned souls.
Ten Offenses to be Avoided
• 1) To blaspheme the devotees who have dedicated their lives for propagating the
    holy name of the Lord.
• 2) To consider the names of the demigods like Lord Siva or Lord Brahma to be equal
to, or independent of, the name Lord Visnu.
• 3) To disobey the orders of the spiritual master.
• 4) To blaspheme the Vedic literature or literature in pursuance of the Vedic version.
• 5) To consider the glories of chanting Hare Krsna to be imagination.
• 6) To give some interpretation on the holy name of the Lord.
• 7) To commit sinful activities on the strength of chanting the holy name of the Lord.
• 8) To consider chanting of Hare Krsna as one of the auspicious ritualistic activities
offered in the Vedas as fruitive activities (karma-kanda).
• 9) To instruct a faithless person about the glories of the holy name.
• 10) To not have complete faith in the chanting of the holy names and to maintain
material attachments, even after understanding so many instructions on this
    matter.

• Every devotee who claims to be a Vaisnava must guard against these offenses in
order to quickly achieve the desired success. Krishna Prema!

Sri Sri Guru-astakam by Srila Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura Srila Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura, who appeared in the middle of the seventeenth century, is a great spiritual master in the Krishna conscious chain of gurus and disciples. He says, quot;One who, with great care and attention, loudly recites this beautiful prayer to the spiritual master during the Brahma-muhurta [the early morning hour before sunrise] obtains direct service to Krishna, the Lord of Vrndavana, at the time of his death.quot;

  • 14. Ten Offenses to be Avoided • 1) To blaspheme the devotees who have dedicated their lives for propagating the holy name of the Lord. • 2) To consider the names of the demigods like Lord Siva or Lord Brahma to be equal to, or independent of, the name Lord Visnu. • 8) To consider chanting of Hare Krsna as one of the auspicious ritualistic activities offered in the Vedas as fruitive activities (karma-kanda). • 9) To instruct a faithless person about the glories of the holy name. • 10) To not have complete faith in the chanting of the holy names and to maintain material attachments, even after understanding so many instructions on this matter. • Every devotee who claims to be a Vaisnava must guard against these offenses in order to quickly achieve the desired success. Krishna Prema!
