“My favourite idea mentioned on
Sciencebook is the conception of what
climate change could be doing to marine life
and the ocean environments that cover over
70 percent of the planet. Images of the earth
from space show the vast enormity of the
world’s oceans, which are home to many
types of marine creatures. However as well
as the number of sea creatures that live
here, climate change will also profoundly
affect humans as the world’s oceans are
essential to us as they regulate our climate,
produce oxygen and remove carbon dioxide
from the atmosphere through processes
such as photosynthesis. “

and young people the excitement of working in
such a vibrant and interesting area … and believe it

‘We're always looking for new ways to inspire girls so when our county
commissioner forwarded the The Sciencebook Trust event link to us, we
thought it was too good an opportunity to miss as science is so important to
all of us.’

'One aspect of scouting is to enable our young people to explore and
develop a greater understanding of the world around us. I am bringing our
cubs along to this exciting and interesting demonstration and talk to give
them the opportunity to investigate and find out more about this
fascinating area of science. I am hoping the talk will assist the cubs in
