2. BENGAL JUDICATURE ACT 1781
To rectify the defects of regulating
act,this act was passed
1] Bengal judicature act of 1781 which
restricted the supreme courts judicature
to either those who lived in culcutta.
Bengal,bihar,Orissa thereby removing the
courts.
3. 2]Formalerly the rules and
regulations made by general
with the council were recquired
to be registered with the
supreme court and this led to a
lot of inconvenience.
4. The public servants of the company were
not to be subject to the jurisdication of the
supreme court for things done by them in
their official capacity [civil case].
Revenue collectors and judicial officers of
the company were also exempted from the
jurisdication of supreme court.
5. Appeals were to be taken from the
provincial courts to the governor general in
council instead of supreme court.
The act also asserted that mohammedan
cases should be determined by
mohammedan law and hindu law applied in
hindu cases.
