Real-world examples in healthcare
SAP HANA platform is well-suited to the specific needs of the healthcare industry, where much of the data is
unstructured. You can run natural-language processing and text analytics technology in conjunction with SAP

Full genome sequencing provides raw data on 6 billion letters of an
individual’s‪DNA.‪It’s‪no‪surprise‪that‪the‪first‪human‪genome‪
project took more than 10 years to complete. Now the emphasis is
on genome interpretation and the mining of that data for clinically
actionable information. Researchers are comparing genome
sequences among large sample groups to better understand target
genetic markers. This could accelerate the development of
treatments‪for‪diseases‪such‪as‪cancer‪and‪Alzheimer’s.‪
Life science companies offering genome analytic services are
integral to this effort. With SAP HANA, data that once took two
days to process can be analyzed in minutes. This can translate
into faster and more accurate diagnoses, better patient care with
fewer doctor visits, and expedited pharmaceutical discoveries with
lower development costs.

Medical device lifecycle management
Having data in a searchable format and being able to provide it in an ad hoc report is a game changer.
