Buencamino was
born at San Miguel
De Mayuno,
Bulacan on
November 5, 1883.
He married Pilar
Luceno and had two
children that later
first learnt music from
their father.
Francisco Bektran
Buencamino died
on 16th of October
year 1952 due to
heart attack.
His parents are
musically inclined.
Her mother, Luisa
Beltran was a singer
and his Father
Fortunato
Buencamino was a
church organist and a
brand master.

ACHIEVEMENTS IN

CAREER
FOUNDER
He founded the Buencamino
Music Academy in 1930, and
had Nicanor Abelardo as
one of his students. He also
became a musical director
for sarswela productions,
and composer of music for
films produced by
Sampaguita Pictures LVN,
and Excelsior.
8. HIS COMPOSED MUSIC LED TO…
• He won Posthumous Outstanding Composer Award on the
same year he died.
• A poem he composed in 1938 won the Far Eastern University
during one of the annual carnivals.
• His mayon concierto is considered as his magnum opus.
Begun in 1943 and finished in 1948. This composition had its
full rendition in February 1950 at the graduation recital of
Rosario Buencamino at the holy ghost College
9. HIS COMPOSED MUSIC LED TO…
• As musical director, he was involved in a number of
movies such as “Mabangong Bulalak”, “Ang ibong
Adarna”, “Mutya ng Pasig”, and “Alitaptap”.
• He is a Filipino composer who performed as a concert
pianist during the American Colonial Period.
• His piano works have become staples in the Philippines
reportoire of today’s performers. He ventured into
musical direction and scoring for films, composing
zarzuelas and kundiman.
