3. What’s Holding You Back?
People I care about are in pain because the things we thought
would work don’t. Every day I meet people who have so much to
give but have been bullied enough or frightened enough to hold it
back. They have become victims, pawns in a senseless system that
uses them up and undervalues them.
Stop settling for what’s good enough and start creating art that
matters. Stop asking what’s in it for you and start giving gifts that
change people. Then, and only then, will you have achieved your
potential.

Why I started? I foolishly thought it could make me money. How I Started. like many of you, I was a listener of podcasts. I found that as much as I loved music I was going crazy listening to the same 20 song rotation that most radio stations played. I hated all the commercial breaks that talk radio has and I liked the idea if picking up where I left off, instead of missing out completely on the rest of the story. How much do you need to know?
If you are an ace programmer, you will not hurt my feelings if you want to get up and leave. I know almost zero about .php, html, ruby or rss. My website is not filled with flash and a bunch of java script. It’s functional and growing. What I do have in common with the coders is that like many of them, I am self taught. I have spent countless hours on forums and reading how to do different things in a website. I also learned how to do it wrong. I have crashed my own site more than a few times. I have destroyed my database, and I have completely deleted my entire site and it’s history. All by trying to make it better. I did this for a few reasons. The first- I had the time. 2 nd - I wanted to make sure that everything I did was mine. 3 rd - I wanted the end content to be good and something I controlled. And oh yeah, I’m cheap.
