    for the expanse of space
    that draws us beyond the definitions of our selves.

Overview
 What   is a Capstone Project?
 Explain the three phases of the capstone
  project.
 Review the rubric with participants.
 Brainstorm projects that could be created
  for a parish, school, or adult setting.
 Identify relevant research about
  technology and learning, especially as
  applied to faith settings.
WHAT IS A CAPSTONE
PROJECT?
As found on Wikipedia, a capstone is literally,
“one of the finishing or protective stones that
form the top of an exterior masonry wall or
building.” For our Institute, an opportunity to
apply what you have learned from many
different areas, and culminate to make a final
project that shows off how you are integrating
technology in your ministry. It is meant to be
your “crowning achievement, point, element, or
event” and “the final stroke; the culmination or
acme.”

learning environment.

Overview  What is a Capstone Project?  Explain the three phases of the capstone project.  Review the rubric with participants.  Brainstorm projects that could be created for a parish, school, or adult setting.  Identify relevant research about technology and learning, especially as applied to faith settings.
  • 6. WHAT IS A CAPSTONE PROJECT? As found on Wikipedia, a capstone is literally, “one of the finishing or protective stones that form the top of an exterior masonry wall or building.” For our Institute, an opportunity to apply what you have learned from many different areas, and culminate to make a final project that shows off how you are integrating technology in your ministry. It is meant to be your “crowning achievement, point, element, or event” and “the final stroke; the culmination or acme.”

Proposal Deadline: September 1, 2011 In your project goals, please include a statement that is focused Three Phases on the use of technology to Phase I - Proposal enhance the building of community in your school or parish. We are about showing how digital tools can be part of building and developing a community of believers.
  • 8.  Creatively engage your audience in your project.  Projects should be implemented in September thru October. Three Phases  Projects Phase II - Implementation completed by November 1, 2011.
  • 9. Part A: Write a 500 word essay summarizing your Summer Institute experience and how you plan to apply what you learned to your Catholic school teaching or Parish catechetical ministry. Demonstrate how you have applied your understanding of ISTE's National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers (NETST) and Three Phases applied them to a faith Phase III – Project Summary learning environment. Include reference to Deadline: December 1, 2011 relevant research about technology and learning, especially as applied to faith settings, if appropriate.
  • 10. Part B: Write an article for publication that would tell the story of your final project so that others could learn and apply what you did to their own parish or school setting.
