OR In other words, when one person cannot accomplish a job alone and several individuals must cooperate to fulfill a mission, you need a team. A team implies synergy, that is the whole is greater than the sum of their parts and the essence of a team is a common commitment, because without it the members are simply group of individuals. Performing: Teams are able to function as a unit as they find way to get the job done smoothly and effectively without inappropriate conflict. Storming: Realizing of task difficulty. Fluctuation in attitude about chance of success and poor collaboration. Norming: Members accepts team and individuality of fellow members. Members starts helping each others. Team Learning • Learning is often a precursor to adaptation it then follow that “being motivated and able to learn is a prerequisite for an effective leader”. • Team learning is a change in the team’s knowledge and skills which comes from the team’s shared experience. • Individuals collect knowledge, skills and abilities and share this with the team. • Team learning is both a process and an outcome. Dealing With Conflicts • Conflicts occurs when individuals or groups are not obtaining what they need or want and seeking their own self-respect. • Sometimes the individual is not aware of the need and unconsciously starts to act out. • Other times, the individual is very aware of what he or she wants and actively works at achieving the goal. Techniques for avoiding and / or resolving conflicts • Plan for and communicate frequently. • Be honest about concerns. • Agree to disagree- understand healthy disagreement would build better decisions. • Let your team create- people will support what they help create. • Discuss differences in values openly. • Communicate honestly- avoid playing “GOTCHA” type games.
