WHAT IS SALAH?
 MEANING: Invocation, eulogy, prayer
blessings, asking for mercy, praying for
forgiveness and repeatedly utter the
attributes of Allah.
 ARABIC SYNONYM: Namaz (Persian
word)
PURPOSE OF SALAH
 Salah is the physical constant reminder
to us to address to the Almighty Allah
and a man should do the good deeds.
 Stay away from the bad.
 Do only what Allah has asked and
expects us to do.
IMPORTANCE OF SALAH
 The importance of salah is mentioned in
Quran in many different places.
 Quran has lead great emphasis on the
regularity of prayers by the people.
 No matter how faithful and religious
conscious Muslims are, this repeated
reminder is still essential.
MAIN AIMS OF THE PRAYERS
 All other physical or non physical practices may be
dropped out under any circumstances what so ever.
 He who does not believe in Salat or is not
performing it is not a Muslim and shall be severely
punished at the Day of Judgment.
 We know that we have to pray the daily five times
prayers but there are other prayers prescribed by
our Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) who are the Sunnahs and
its good to pray them but if we don’t there will be no
harm.
The Quran Says:
“Those who believe, and do
deeds of righteousness, and establish
regular prayers and regular charity,
will have their reward with their
Lord: on them shall be no fear,
nor shall they grieve.” (2/277)
WHY DO MUSLIMS PRAY?
 To remember God five times a day.
 To bring themselves close to God and to
have a good relationship with Him.
SOCIAL ASPECTS OF PRAYER
 PUNCTUALITY
 SELF DISCIPLINE
 CLEANLINESS
 PATEINCE
 CO-OPERATION
 EQUALITY
 HUMILITY
PUNCTUALITY
The Quran States:
“Establish regular prayer; for the prayer is
enjoined on believers at stated times.”
(4: 103)
AND
“Establish regular prayer, for it restrains from
shameful and unjust deeds.”(29:45)
Self-discipline
The Quran Says:
“…God intends every facility for you; He does
not want to put you to difficulties.” (2: 185)
Cleanliness
The Quran States:
“O You who believe, when you rise up for your prayer, wash
your faces, and your hands up to your elbows, and rub your
heads and wipe your feet up to the ankles. And if you are
polluted, then wash yourselves… God does not wish to place
you in a difficulty, but He wishes to purify you.”
(5: 7)
“…And God loves those who purify themselves.” (2: 222)
Prophet Muhammad said: “Allah does not accept prayer
without purification.”
Patience:
The Quran states:
“…Seek God’s help through patience and
prayer.” (2: 45)
And
“O you who believe. Seek help with patience,
perseverance and prayer; for God is with those
who patiently persevere.” (2: 153)
Co-operation
 Muslims are provided with many
opportunities for gathering in various
occasions.
 The mosque is open for individuals to pray
voluntary the daily prayers and obligatory for
Friday prayer and annual prayers at the two
Feasts.
HUMILITY
 In English, the word "humility" comes from the
Latin root word which means "ground." Humility, or
being humble, means that one is modest,
submissive and respectful, not proud and arrogant.
 You lower yourself to the ground, not elevate
yourself above others. In prayer, Muslims prostrate
themselves to the ground, acknowledging human
beings' lowliness and humility before the Lord of
the Worlds. In the Qur'an, Allah uses several Arabic
words which convey the meaning of "humility”.
PUNISHMENT
 SAYINGS (HADITH) OF PROPHET
MUHAMMAD (Sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam)
 The one who neglect the prayers will receive
Fifteen punishments from Allah.
 Six punishments in this lifetime
 Three while dying
 Three in the grave &
 Three on the Day of Judgment.
PUNISHMENT
 THE SIX PUNISHMENTS OF LIFE:
 1. Allah takes away blessings from his age (makes his life
misfortunate)
 2.Allah does not accept his plea (Dua's)

 4.He will be detested by all creatures on earth.
 5.Allah does not award him for his good deeds. (No thawab)
 6.He will not be included in th! e Dua's of good people.
 THE THREE PUNISHMENTS WHILE DYING:
 1. He dies humiliated.
 2. He dies hungry.
 3. He dies thirsty. Even if he drinks the water of all seas he will
 still be thirsty.
PUNISHMENT
 THE THREE PUNISHMENTS IN THE GRAVE:
 1. Allah tightens his grave until his chest ribs come over each other.
 2. Allah pours on him fire with embers.
 3. Allah sets on him a snake called "the brave", "the bold" which hits Him
 from morning until afternoon for leaving Fajr prayer, from the
 afternoon until Asr for leaving Dhuhr prayer and so on. With each
 strike he sinks 70 yards under the ground.
 THE THREE PUNISHMENTS ON THE DAY OF JUDGMENT:
 1. Allah sends who would accompany him to hell pulling him on the face.
 2. Allah gives him an angry look that makes the flesh of his face fall down.

 Note: If you get this copy, please make copies of it and distribute
 them among all Muslims. You will be earning a Reward as well as
 helping to show your brother or sister the Right Path. May Allah give guidance to all of
us.
