Target audience for music video
1. My first question asked what
gender the person was, and from
my results I expected a balanced
result. However, 71% of the
responses were female.
My second question asked how
old the person taking the
questionnaire was. 88% of the
respondents were in the age
range of 16-20. This is the type of
audience my music video is
aimed for so this helped with
what answers I would collect.
My third question was do you
like indie music? Which I
thought was a necessary
question to ask as that is the
genre of my music video. The
majority of the respondents
like indie music (71%)
meaning the respondents
would have an understanding
of what music videos look like
and the range of different
videos.
2. I am planning on creating
most of the music video in
black and white so I thought
it was essential to ask if
people liked these videos.
From my results 69% of the
respondents like black and
white music videos meaning
it confirmed my idea of
creating a black and white
music video.
With the fifth question I asked what
type of narrative people like to see.
And the majority wanted to see a
music video that has a romantic
element to the narrative.
The indie genre usually has a
romantic narrative, which is why I am
also using this stereotype.
3. Surprisingly the respondents
only like to see the musician
appear only sometimes (57%).
This means I may have to take
this into consideration with the
filming and editing.
It was clear to see that the
majority of the survey takers
did not want the video to end on
a cliff hanger which I agree with
as it would be to cliché .
4. In my music video I am planning
on using a green screen so I
thought it would be a good idea
that I would inform them about
special FX. 68% said they would
like to see special effects used.
The results were quite even for
example the location of lake was
42% and the town 39% so a
music video with different
locations would interest people.
Asked what peoples favorite
musicians were and there was a wide
range, some of the names included,50
cent, Arctic Monkeys, coldplay and
Jessie J showing that many of the
people who took the survey have a
wide range of music taste.
