Electron Trsansport Chain
The electron transport chain is the series of electron transport
embedded in the inner mitochondrial membrane that shuttles
electrons from NADH and FADH2 to molecular oxygen.
In this process ,protons are pumped from the mitochondial matrix to
the intermembrane space and oxygen is reduced to form water.
Production
The electron transport chain (aka ETC) is process in which the NADH
and [FADH2] produced during glycolysis,B-oxidation,and other
catbolic processes are oxidized thus releasing energy in the form of
ATP.
The mechanism by which ATP is formed in the ETC is called
chemiosmotic phosphorolation.
