• Don Wetzel, vice-president of product
planning at Docutel (USA), was the chief
conceptualist of ATM.
• He along with Tom Barnes and George
Chastain began work in 1968.

1969.

Rockville Centre(New York) based
Chemical Bank.

phone line using a modem and atoll free
number.

• Leased line:

Initial cost of setting up very high.

• Dial-up line:
Low throughput.
