2. Potential ways of sharing
my work – 1. YouTube
YouTube would be the main platform I’d share my project
from because it’s the easiest to access and because the site is
widely used and will allow a large amount of people to see
my film. Because I have a YouTube account which I’ve used
since 2013, I can share it from there, but it may take a while
to upload because of how big the project is, and I’d have to
take it off unlisted and make it public for all to see. I would
use YouTube because uploading it would be a lot simpler
than trying to share it from a place like Patrion where I and
my audience would have to pay for everything and there
would be a lot of difficult signing in details, using YouTube
would be simple enough for me to share my work quick
enough for people to watch it. Uploading my project to
YouTube is a good place to share my work from because the
site has 2.1 billion users and by sharing it to their platform, I
will get many viewers to see my work and make it successful.

3. Potential ways of sharing
my work – 2. Wix
Wix is my back up site to share my work from in
case it doesn't work with YouTube, I’d have to learn
how Wix operates to make my work viewable to all,
and not just my film but all my Power Points as well.
While my Wix site maybe partly viewable to the
public, I’ll have to take the tips from the website to
make my site more widely known by learning how
to make better designs for my backgrounds, to
make my site more eye-catching and watch the
website’s tutorials to learn how to market the site
so my work existence will be known. I want people
to see my portfolio of work so they can see how I
made my films, and I can get more filming jobs and
to learn about filming opportunities in the future.

4. Potential ways of sharing my work
– 3. Creating my own website
I also researched creating my own website to
display my film by using Square Space,
GoDaddy or other website creation engines.
These platforms were also more expensive
and complicated to use than YouTube and had
a much more limited group of users. The cost
of hosting my content and updating the
webpage to incorporate high quality graphics
and effects was very high. This option was not
as effective as YouTube but a backup option.

5. Potential ways of sharing my work
– 4. Sharing my film at a festival
I considered sharing my film at a film festival
such as the Aesthetica Film Festival in York,
Sheffield Docfest, BFI Future Film Festival and
others. These festivals offer an opportunity for
media experts and leading figures in the local
and national film industry to see my films and
to make contacts and get advice on better ways
of filming. I plan to submit a film to one of
these festivals in the future but feel YouTube
offers a wider distribution channel for my FMP
film.

6. Which methods have I
decided to use?
After considering all the options, I decided to use YouTube to share my project
because while all my other options offer the potential to share my work for
example Wix where I can promote my work and learn how to do online
marketing and create my own website. Wix would allow more accessibility for
my work to be seen and sharing my work at a film festival will let people with
proper film experience see it and give me work opportunities however they all
have their own flaws that restricts my sharing. Wix’s flaws are that it is
massively under-used compared to YouTube even though the creators try to
say how popular it is in adverts and the websites editing and marketing system
is so complicated and difficult to learn. Similar to the challenges of using Wix, if
I start a new website on a different platform, it will be complicated to use,
expensive to maintain and it offers no way in which to advertise or market my
work to large internet audience. The flaws of giving my project to a film festival
are the cost of entering the festival which can be expensive, the technical
issues as there are challenges with making my entry compatible with the
festival's technology, and there are challenges with ensuring all copyrighted
materials are used in compliance with festival guidelines. Bearing all this in
mind, YouTube proves to be the best method of screening my film because
it’s widely known and massively used by over 2.1 billion people around the
world, and it is easy to publicise my film. Most people share similar interests,
one of which being horror, so if I share my project on YouTube then many users
will watch it and my film also has the potential to be liked and followed by
many users generating publicity and awareness in the film industry.

7. Evidence of Showing my
work?
I decided to share my work in two ways instead of one for my
second Final Major Project; I shared them on YouTube and Wix
despite it being complicated to use and having comparatively
few users. I took pictures of both websites as evidence by using
Snipping Tool to take screen-shots. I re-uploaded my film to
YouTube to fix an audio bug and then I used Snipping tool to
screen-shot the computer by pressing take a new photo
and saving the photos on my one drive. For all Wix’s flaws I
decided to use it as a sharer because it shows all my work, like
before I used the Snipping Tool to screen shot my work. I used
the websites grid to select what I wanted to take a picture of
and then I select the option to upload it to one drive.

8. Evidence of Showing my
work during the show?
Before the show I thought my film wouldn’t measure
up to the quality of everyone else’s products, but I was
happily surprised when I saw that my film looked high
quality and it was one of the most well received by the
audience because they laughed at it so much (the
project was made to be a comedy that didn’t take
itself seriously). The show itself was exciting for me
because it was my first proper film festival where my
own film was being shown on the big screen with
other students from my course who made projects. I
have evidence of my work and me being at the show
by taking pictures of the cinema during the show. I
took a picture of the cinema during the show’s trailer
loop and the classroom, were everyone’s projects
were being shown on loop on their computers, and I
took a picture of my film while it was shown on
screen, I then air-dropped all the pictures to my iPad
which I then emailed to my one drive.
