• Kathakali is a blend of dance, music and acting and dramatizes stories, which
are mostly adapted from the Indian epics. कथकली नृत्य, संगीत और अभिनय का
भिश्रण है और कहाभनय ं क नाटकीय रूप देता है, ज ज्यादातर िारतीय िहाकाव् ं से
अनुक
ू भलत हैं।
• Heavy make-up and stunning costumes (elaborate masks, huge skirts and big
head-dresses) are used. िारी श्रृंगार और शानदार वेशिूषा (भवस्तृत िुखौटे, भवशाल
स्कटट और बडे भसर-प शाक) का उपय ग भकया जाता है।
• The dancers enact the roles (kings, gods, demons etc.) of the stories with
particular make-up and costume, the vocalists narrate the legend and the
percussionists play the musical instruments. नतटक भवशेष श्रृंगार और वेशिूषा क

साथ कहाभनय ं की िूभिकाएँ (राजा, देवता, राक्षस आभद) भनिाते हैं, गायक कथा सुनाते
हैं और तालवादक वाद्य यंत्र बजाते हैं।

green – nobility, black – wicked, red patches – combining royalty & evil.
