Our Annual Day Theme - Carpe Diem
The Annual Day of Sharanya Narayani
International School was held on 10th
March 2018. It showcased the inner
talent within the students from primary
to middle school. It was a much antici-
pated and colossal event which cap-
tured the hearts and minds of every
spectator. For parents, it was a won-
derful platform to witness their chil-
dren performing in front of them.
The students have worked hard to
make this show a grand success by rig-
orously practising drama, dance and
music for more than a month. Not only
this, they involved themselves in ac-
tivities like making the props for the
theatre and other dance performances.
Practicing the skit and memorizing
the lines for the play was a task that
students should be complemented for.
Courageous, open-minded, caring and
balanced are the attributes of the
learner profiles that were exhibited by
all the students throughout the even-
ing.
The theme for the Annual Day was
Carpe Diem which means “Live the
moment”, “Seize the day”. The past is
in the past, the future is uncertain. All
we have is today and this moment in
time. In today’s fast paced world, we
forget to live the moment and enjoy
our lives. We are so busy focusing
on preparing for the future that we
forget to enjoy our life today. The
performance by both Primary and
middle school students rekindled the
message of “living the moment”
within each one of us.

Moana the Musical
Our tiny tots were the show
starters with their endearing and
charming moves.
Moana is the story of a girl from a small
island, who sets on a quest to restore the
heart of Tefiti (The mother island) with
Maui the demigod of wind and sea, to
save her island and protect the people.
This is a story of a girl who with courage
and valor conquers her fears and seizes
the day.

Making of Moana the Musical
We worked really hard to practice and make this show a grand success by involving in
activities like making the props and giving colors to them. This taught us what enthusi-
asm really means. While making the props we integrated art as well.
Learning the skills of dance and drama was really fun and exciting and the teachers
made us confident to perform in front of the crowd. We were excited the day before the
big day to practice with the props and costumes.
Now, we are really happy because we feel that the Annual Day was a huge success !

Mr. Rajesh Vasudevan, Head of Middle and Sen-
ior school, concluded the celebration by thanking

ers, various department heads and support staff for
staging a successful event. He also congratulated
the students on their wonderful performance.
The only place where you can experience the flow of life is the Now. So to surrender is to accept the
present moment unconditionally and without reservation. Your life’s journey has an outer purpose
and an inner purpose. The outer purpose is to arrive at your goal or destination, to accomplish what
you set out to do, to achieve this or that, which, of course, implies future. The outer purpose belongs
to the horizontal dimension of space and time; the inner purpose concerns a deepening of your being
in the vertical dimension of the timeless Now. Your outer journey may contain a million steps; your
inner journey only has one: the step you are taking right now. This one step then becomes trans-
formed into an expression of perfection, an act of great beauty and quality. This is both the purpose
and the fulfilment of your inner journey, the journey into yourself. The Middle & Senior School’s
production titled Elements, Essence and Emotions portrayed five characters synced with five ele-
ments, conjugated with five themes that represented the other side of Carpe Diem… The five ele-
ments : Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether, ether meaning the sky or space. These five elements are
not only those that comprise the Universe, but also what we are made up of! As the saying goes,
''From dust to dust' these are also the elements that will form part of our end. Characters who failed
to live the Now, characters who survived the Now, Characters who went beyond the Now, Charac-
ters who conquered Now….These characters were taken from great works across globe, who contin-
ue to simulate consciousness now and beyond. The Middle school left no stone unturned to portray
these characters.
