Are you deeply experienced in facilitating dialogue among the most respected leaders in the global business
community? Have you spent a significant portion of your career immersing yourself in the strategic business
and technology issues facing leading global CEOs? Are you up for the challenge of intensely collaborating with
Microsoft’s senior executive leadership to create and execute the agenda program for one of the world’s top
business conferences, MSFT’s CEO Summit? Are you prepared to enhance perceptions of Microsoft and advance
sales relationships with top customer executives?
The Global Executive Programs team, as part of WW Executive Engagement (EE), is looking for a high-level,
seasoned executive to operate as content director to lead the content strategy, agenda planning and full agenda
program execution of Microsoft’s premier executive event, the CEO Summit. This senior professional will
effectively serve as overall editor-in-chief of the CEO Summit agenda program and the Topline summary report—
and will work in close partnership with the CEO Summit business owner who is responsible for the overall general
management, operations, and positioning-branding of the event. The Director, Executive Programs Content, can
expect to have additional content, editorial, and relationship management responsibilities added to his/her
portfolio following initial on-boarding with the CEO Summit (occurs in the May timeframe).
Specific initial responsibilities include:
Drive overall CEO Summit content strategy and implement all agenda program execution including the
development of content pillars, content framework (overall content-agenda plan), competitive event
content analysis, agenda main tent and workshop session ideation, speaker-moderator ideation, formal
agenda development and regular agenda iterations, and speaker-moderator-facilitator management.
Deliver a compelling, timely and relevant event agenda program that will engage and delight attendees
and position Microsoft as a global thought leader.
Co-lead and collaborate with a senior advisory “Wise People” group in developing and executing the
agenda program.
Broadly expand the CEO Summit’s content advisory council to include other thought-leader advisors and
consultants from leading universities, media outlets, and consultancies who support executive event
content development (unpaid).
Direct, collaborate, and operate in partnership with a world-class, executive events advisor/consultant
on a full spectrum of content and agenda deliverables/execution.
Identify, recruit, manage, prepare and follow-up with speakers, moderators, and workshop facilitators
for the CEO Summit, as well as for other global executive programs.
Operate in close partnership with the overall CEO Summit Business Owner, and supporting her team as
the event’s senior editor including, but not limited to, the development of the Topline summary report.
Develop an editorial thought leadership calendar in which the field is provided guidance on key topics
and messages for C-level audiences that can be leveraged broadly beyond events.
2. Develop a speaker-moderator-facilitator knowledge base that can be leveraged across global executive
events, and with the field.
Execute operational excellence in all phases of project execution, including planning, project
management, and budget management.
Manage high-impact, regular stakeholder relations with lead executive sponsor Kevin Turner; all other
internal executive sponsors and stakeholders; external stakeholders such as MSFT Chairman and his chief
of staff; field enterprise marketing and EE leads; content consultants and advisors; and the internal and
external speaker communities.
Contribute to related global executive programs communication plans and practices
Support the field in providing feedback on proposed executive event agendas, and provide guidance and
contacts for appropriate internal and external speakers.
Qualifications:
Significant, world-class, and award-winning content management and conference agenda program
experience in an event, editorial or journalistic setting.
Long-term, executive level previous experiences as a managing editor, senior journalist, partner-level
management consultant, PR executive, and/or executive event content director.
Strong internal and external contacts with global CEOs and their executive staff; business and academic
leaders; global policy makers; global dignitaries; key political leaders; best-selling authors; notable
speakers; broad range of media; and global thought leaders.
Super organizational skills; this is a broad conductor role, orchestrating many diverse elements. Need to
make the trains run on time.
Broad experience in developing content and messaging platforms and demonstrated success in selling
the strategy to senior executives.
Passion for tracking business and technology trends and a deep understanding of the CXO audience.
Ability to present at all levels of the organization, and to serve as a positive representative for Microsoft
to outside organizations.
Self-motivated individual who thrives in a fast paced environment.
Outstanding marketing communications skills.
Strong executive presence and maturity.
Recognized relationship management skills with a wide variety of organizations, customers, and
influential groups.
Excellent decision-making, problem-solving and negotiating skills.
Multi-lingual skills preferred but not required.
BA degree required, MBA or Masters preferred.
The position is based in Redmond, Washington.
