General Instructions:
• You will participate in a 15 minute tutorial with a partner.
• Your tutor will give you a specific time for this.
• You should look at the questions and prepare detailed answers
• You should not ‘read’ these answers from a script.
• Use bullet points and expand on them – try to speak as naturally as possible.
• You should listen to your partner and respond to him/her.
• You should ask questions too.
• Your tutor will ask additional questions

Read the following claims and concerns about big data. Choose one of the claims
or concerns to discuss with a partner. Support your ideas using evidence from the
text or your own ideas.
1. Online retail companies need to collect as much data on customers as
possible so they can market directly to the customer’s need.
2. Inaccuracies, misspellings and missing information that might impact data
analysis are usually due to human error
3. Telecommunications companies collect and store a smartphone user’s texts,
phone calls, video and social media interaction, and can use the information
for business purposes.
