Electrical Solutions Network Ltd
I started Simac electrical in 2012 as a sole trader company which carried out all aspects of electrical installations
including electrical inspection and testing. The company then merged with Ram electrical Scotland Ltd in May
2014 to form Electrical Solutions Network Ltd, which is an electrical contracting team carrying out large and
small scale installations on industrial, commercial and domestic premises including inspection and testing. This
work is mainly on railway installations throughout the UK. My duties include all forms of containment, cable
running and terminations and final inspection and testing of the completed installation including all
documentation. My role also includes estimating and providing reports on condition of current installations and
carrying out inspection and testing of electrical installations for insurance purposes. As an active member of the
management I am also responsible for health and safety of all employees and training and development of
employees throughout the company. Other duties include managing projects to ensure standard and timescales of
client’s needs are met I am also responsible for vehicles and plant throughout the company.
2010 - 2012 LOCATION : INEOS Grangemouth Scotland
POSITION : Electrical Superintendent.
Employed by Belair Engineering Consultants and based at the Grangemouth site office for the execution phase of
the Ethane supply project carrying out all electrical switch room duties including review and approval of the
Contractor`s schedules for commissioning and testing, supervision and coordination of start-up and
commissioning activities, witnessing of trial tests, performance tests and certification thereof, review of "AFC"
drawings, management of the site commissioning team and coordination with the INEOS I&C engineers and
execution team. Further duties will include the review of the "Plant Completion Report" prepared by the Prime
Sub-Contractor, review of the OEM’s O&M Manuals, responsible for the preparation of the Punch Lists and
project close out reports.
1991 – 2010 LOCATION : South Ayrshire Council
POSITION : Electrician / Electrical Supervisor
Started with South Ayrshire Council in 1991 as an apprentice electrician then Qualified in 1995 as an Electrician
further to being upgraded to Approved electrician then foreman electrician and electrical supervisor. My duties
were installation and maintenance of all domestic and commercial properties owned by the council including
homes, schools, offices, recycling plant and workshops. I worked on various types of systems including
switchgear, control gear, fire detection systems, communications, emergency lighting, motors, ventilation, standby
generators, elevators, heating systems and power and lighting including inspection and testing of installations and
condition reporting and advising. My duties also included supervising of others, training and development of
apprentices and liasing with other trades and departments as part of a multi trade and large organisation.
