2. ABSTRACT
This paper presents a modern approach for surveillance at remote and border areas
using multifunctional robot based on current technology used in defence and military
applications. This robotic vehicle has ability to substitute the solider at border areas to
provide surveillance. The robotic vehicle works on manually controlled vehicle using
internet as communication medium. This multisensory robot used to detect objects,
bombs, harmful gases ,war field areas and paramilitary areas etc.
Key Words: wifi module, Temperature sensor, Gas sensor, Metal detector, Motors.
3. INTRODUCTION
This is a robot that operates on open land with humans presence for giving
navigation commands and decision making. Command control mode: In this mode, we
have considered humans decision making and providing navigation commands based
on the live video signal received from the camera mounted on the robot. In the recent
development and trend most of the Defense organization now takes the help of robots
to carry out many risky jobs that cannot be done by the soldier. These robots used in
Defense are usually employed with the integrated system, including video screens,
sensors, metal detector and cameras. The Defense robots also have different shapes
according to the purposes of each robot. Here the new system is proposed with the help
of wireless camera through we can trace out the intruders and the robot will be
employed with integrated systems Thus the proposed system, a Multi-functional Robot
using Internet of Things with wireless network GSM through which we can update the
data to web page server and control remotely. This is specially designed robotic system
to save human life and protect the country from enemies.

5. ARDUINO UNO
Arduino is a micro controller. This small computer is used to as the brain of
the robot. It can be programmed to control the way buttons, motors, switches, lights
and other electronic parts work together.
6. SERVO MOTOR
A servo motor is a type of motor that can rotate with great precision. If you
want to rotate an object at some specific angles or distance, then you use a servo
motor. It is just made up of a simple motor which runs through a servo mechanism.
7. DC MOTOR
Provides an interface between the 5V logic signal from the microcontroller & the
high current/high voltage power side to drive the motor.Motor is an electromechanical
device, which convert electrical energy to rotation/ mechanical energy.DC Geared
Motor is used to drive the robotic vehicle.
8. ESP8266 MODULE
The ESP8266 WiFi Module is a self contained SOC with integrated TCP/IP
protocol stack that can give any microcontroller access to your WiFi network. The
ESP8266 is capable of either hosting an application or offloading all WiFi networking
functions from another application processor.
9. GSM MODULE
The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite based navigation system
that provides location and time information. The system is freely accessible to
anyone with a GPS receiver and unobstructed line of sight to at least four of GPS
satellites. A GPS receiver calculates its position by precisely timing the signals sent
by GPS satellites. GPS is nowadays widely used and also has become an integral
part of smart phones
10. L298N MOTOR DRIVER
The L298N Motor Driver is a controller that uses an H-Bridge to easily control
the direction and speed of up to 2 DC motors. But here we use use 4 motors 2 are
connected to one port and another 2 motors to remaining port.
11. POWER SUPPLY
A 12 V Lithium Acid battery is used to power the Robot. Also called SLI based on
its function of Starting, Lighting and Ignition. It releases high burst of current and get
quickly recharged.
12. GAS SENSOR
Gas sensors (also known as gas detectors) are electronic devices that detect and
identify different types of gasses. They are commonly used to detect toxic or explosive
gasses and measure gas concentration.
14. METAL DETECTOR
Metal detectors are employed for determining the existence of metal inclusions
concealed within objects and also metal objects enclosed beneath the surface of the
earth.
15. ULTRA SONIC SENSOR
An ultrasonic sensor is an electronic device that measures the distance of a target
object by emitting ultrasonic sound waves, and converts the reflected sound into an
electrical signal. Ultrasonic waves travel faster than the speed of audible
sound.Ultrasonic sensors have two main components: the transmitter (which emits the
sound using piezoelectric crystals) and the receiver (which encounters the sound after it
has travelled to and from the target).
17. WORKING
User control is employed to control the robot at user end. The robot is controlled at
the user end by employing wireless technology. User control application is utilized by
the bomb technician to monitor the robot The programming for the robot is done
through the Arduino coding. There are some keys assigned for the robotic control.
When ever a bomb is detected by the sensor it sends the location data through the Serial
Transmission of user input is done through an wifi link to the robot. The robot acquires
it, recognize it and relay it to the concerned module
18. ADVANTAGES
Military robots are often lifesaving, they can perform duties without the actual
danger to human lives
Robots can make quick decisions in fast paced combat situations.
Human lives can be saved if robots are sent into frontline combat.
Decreases the man power
A large range of task domain.
20. APPLICATIONS
War fields
Paramilitary areas
BRO(Border road organization)
Search and rescue
Surveillance
Visual monitoring
21. FUTURE SCOPE
In the future days we are planning to modify this project to the main server from
which can we send message and notifications to any part of the ,world using cloud
computing network ,Set up wide range ,Camera for visual vision, Robotic arm for
bomb disposal.
22. CONCLUSION
As an advancement of our basic military robot we can also include the cameras,
the video screens, the force sensors and the special grippers, they can do the risky jobs
with these integrated systems, and they have different shapes according to the purposes
of each robot. They can also equipped with machine gun-like features which make
these medium-sized robots appear to be a small army.
