3. Why Introducing This Project
???
India’s population 127,42,39769 and growing.
Apr 8, 2014 - India has an youth demographic 65% of
its population.
Census 2001 has revealed that over 21 million people
in India as suffering from one or the other kind of
disability mainly injured from leg. This is equivalent to
2.1% of the population.
April 1, 2011 it increased to 3%.
Dec 29, 2013 - The country's disabled
population has increased by 12.4% , most of the
causes for accident.
4. Now World population :-
According to the United Nations, world population
reached 7 Billion on October 31, 2011.
The US Census Bureau made a lower estimate, for which
the 7 billion mark was only reached on March 12, 2012.
Some Facts about Persons with Disabilities. ... Around
15 per cent of the world's population, or estimated 1
billion people, live with disabilities. ... Often
employers assume that persons with disabilities are
unable to work due to lack of their leg condition.
5. INTRODUCTION Compressed air as a source of energy in different uses in general and as a
non-polluting fuel in compressed air vehicles has attracted scientists and
engineers for century.
The latest trend in the automotive industry is to develop light weight
vehicles. Every automotive industry is looking to reduce the weight of the
vehicle as it helps in the better handling of the vehicle and increases the
efficiency of the vehicle.
Today, the heavy vehicles are known for producing a large amount of
harmful gases like CO2, SO2 etc. which act as the major source for global
warming.
So research is going on to find a light weight vehicle which does not
pollute the environment. One of the alternatives is the use of compressed
air to generate power to run an automobile
6. HISTORY
In fact, two centuries before that Dennis Papin apparently came up
with the idea of using compressed air (Royal Society London, 1687).
In 1872 the Mekarski air engine was used for street transit, consisting
of a single stage engine.
Numerous locomotives were manufactured and a number of regular
lines were opened up (the first in in 1879).
In 1892, Robert Hardie introduced a new method of heating that at
the same time served to increase the range of the engine which in turn
helped to increase the distance that could be traveled at a stretch.
However, the first urban transport locomotive was not introduced until
1898, by Hoadley and Knight, and was based on the principle that the
longer the air is kept in the engine the more heat it absorbs and the
greater its range
7. LITERATURE VIEW
Latest Developments of a Compressed Air Vehicle
Compared to batteries, compressed air is favorable because
of a high energy density, low toxicity, fast filling at low cost
and long service life. These issues make it technically
challenging to design air engines for all kind of compressed
air driven vehicles.

17. Concept and working
This project is working on the basis of compressed air and double
acting cylinder. The compressed air stored in the tank . And the double
acting cylinder which is attached to the crank of the vehicle which give
the motion to the vehicle.
The compressed air supply to the double acting cylinder through the
pipe line arrangement and with the help of the flow control valve. The
flow control valve operated by the switch .
The double acting cylinder’s one end attached to the frame by pin joint
and other end attached to the handle or crank which gives
reciprocating motion to the crank and the crank rotated which
provided circulating motion to the wheel and the wheel rotated. And in
this way the vehicle gets motion.

21. ADVANTAGES
In comparison to petrol or diesel powered vehicles “air
powered vehicles” have following advantages:
Air, on its own, is non-flammable, economical,
transportable, storable and, most importantly non-
polluting.
The mechanical design of the engine is simple .
Low manufacture and maintenance costs as well as
easy maintenance.
22. APPLICATION
It is very helpful for handicap peoples to run their
vehicle.
It is free from pollution.
it cost is low than other vehicles cost
The vehicle weight is light and easy to maintenance.
No conventional fuel is used in this vehicle.
23. CONCLUSION
It’s important to remember that while vehicles running on only
compressed air might seem like a distant dream, but they still have
public interest due to their environmental friendly nature. Compressed
air for vehicle propulsion is already being explored and now air
powered vehicles are being developed as a more fuel-efficient means of
transportation.
Pneumatic vehicle will replace the battery operated vehicles used in
industries. Pneumatic powered vehicle requires very less time for
refueling as compared to battery operated vehicle.
