and must be changed by first changing the anti–immigrant attitudes in America. The social structures of politics and laws affect both immigrants and
U.S. citizens alike and can only be changed by reforming America's immigration system.
Racial prejudice and nativism are still social issues that define our present reality and affect us all. Everyday, immigrants in America find themselves

of "immigrant complexion." Life is already hard for Americans and arguably even harder for immigrants, and with immigration laws like this in place,

Jones industrial average fell almost 600 points and was already down 9% in 2008 (Gross 1). Immediately the Federal Reserve took action and cut the
interest rates three–quarters of a percentage point, the biggest cut in 24 years. Today, not even a week later, the Fed again cut interest rates, this time
by a half–point (Aversa 1). This move is an effort to keep the economy out of a recession by getting money back into the banks and encouraging
them to keep lending credit to turn the economy upward. Whether or not it will work remains to be seen in the coming months. The government
also announced another move to a couple weeks ago to help get the economy going again and avoid or slow down a recession. President Bush and
the House are currently developing a $145 billion stimulus plan that would give tax relief to citizens by sending them individual checks for $300 and
up. The plan would put over $100 billion into the hands of consumers and the government hopes that money would be spent and put back into the

My Experience At The Usa
My experience of moving to the USA included a couple of steps such as preparing, arriving, and adopting. Moving to America was one of the most
thrilling and exciting experiences I have ever had in my life. It all started after I graduated from high school. I had always dreamed of going to
abroad to study in a better school to be successful in life. My dad was leaving me hints here and there that he was going to send me America for
school, but I was sure that it wasn't going to happen because getting a student visa was tough back then. However, that summer when I saw that letter
in my mail from the immigration department of USA for an interview, I was speechless. In order to come to America for school, I either had to
have a student visa or a permanent residency, for which someone had to sponsor me. I was actually starting to give up on coming to the USA for
School. But one day I saw a mail from the USA embassy, and in the mail it said that my aunt sponsored me to come to the USA, and they asked me
along with my family for an interview. It was so unexpected that I didn't know how to react. I took the letter to my dad, and he told me all about
how he was processing the whole time while I was busy taking my finals. That was exciting because I was actually going to get a chance to study
abroad which was all depending on the interview. I had to prepare for the interview with my best effort because that could take my life up to a whole

The definition of government, according to Dictionary.com, is the political direction and control exercised over the actions of the inhabitants of
communities, societies, and states. However, in the book Legend by Marie Lu, the definition of government is very different. Legend is about two
main characters, June and Day, who meet in a surprising scenario and end up working together to bring down the Republic. The theme of government
control relates to an ongoing war, the militarization of people, and a rebellious community.
Government control has led to an ongoing war between the Colonies and the Republic, each fighting the war to take over each others and use a
different government system. The Colonies want to restore America back to the United States of America and the Republic wants to defend their land
and eliminate the threat of the Colonies entirely. Anti Colonies ads like "The Colonies want our land," (Lu 1) are presented on JumboTrons in
Republic cities to get civilians to support the Republic's cause. There is a Trial's system implemented into the Republic that sorts out who would be
a good candidate for a soldier when children are only ten years old. Those who fail get experimented on with bioweapons. Those who pass get sent to a

At college, June states that "almost all of us are well on our way to career assignments in the Republic's military," (Lu 16) which shows just how
militarized the Republic is. Another example of this is when June recalls her assignment "when all third–year Drake students had to shadow and
assigned military branch" (Lu 18). Kids are either being experimented on to improve the Republic's bioweapons or getting trained as soldiers to
