 It is a form of verb to indicate whether the
subject of the verb performs the action or
receives the action.
Subject of the verb
1: Performs the actions Then active voice.
2: Receives the action Then passive voice.
ActiveVoice PassiveVoice
More direct less direct
More forceful less forceful.
Less Awkward more Awkward
Clearly states the relation between the
subject and the action(verb).
Not clearly states the meaning
We use it because it is more effective in
academic and business writing because it
is simpler and more direct.
We use it because when we want to
emphasis (a verb mean give imp, value to
someone)the receiver of action.
Example: The waiter dropped the tray of
food.
Example: The tray of food was dropped by
the waiter.
When the subject of a sentence performs an
action on an object is called active voice.
Simple as:
The subject does the action, and the
object receives the action.
For Example:
The dog ate my homework.
Explanation:
The dog is subject here and doing
the action it is the one that "ate". meanwhile,
"homework" is the object that is receiving this
action of eating.
 Active voice always use 1st form of verb.
 Example: I write a letter.
 (active voice)
 Here write is the 1st form of verb.
When the subject is acted upon by the object, is
called PassiveVoice.
OR
The passive voice is basically the opposite of the
ActiveVoive.
Simple as:
The subject receives the action, and
the object does the action.
For Example:
The house is painted by anna.
The house is subject here and receiving this action
of " painted“ meanwhile, "anna" is the object and
does the action of painting.
General Knowledge:
PassiveVoice always use 3rd form of verb.
Example: A letter is written by me.(passive voice)
Here: written is the 3rd form of verb.
