  3. 3. Electrical power is generated, transmitted in the form of alternating current. The electric power produced at the power station is delivered to the consumers through a large network of transmission and distribution.  In India Electrical power is Generated at a voltage of 11kv to 33kv , which is taken stepped up to the transmission level in the range of 66kv to 400kv member of transmission and switching have to be created these are known as ”Substation”. A Substation is a part of an electrical generation transmission and distribution.   7. 7. BUS BARS An electrical conductor that makes a common connection between several circuits. Single Bus Bar scheme. Single main transfer scheme. Double main bus bar scheme.
  8. 8. Insulators It provides insulation between line conductor and support and thus prevent any leakage current from conductor to earth.  PURPOSE • Support • Break the current  TYPE OF INSULATOR 1. Pin insulator 2. Suspension insulator 3. Strain insulator
  9. 9. ISOLATORS Isolator is a mechanical switch which isolates a part of circuit from system as when required. 1)Double Break Isolator 2)Single Break Isolator 3)Pantograph type Isolator
  10. 10. CIRCUIT BREAKER  THE MAIN FUNCTION OF CIRCUIT BREAKER 1.it carries current continuously without heating. 2. Opens or close the circuit when required. 3. It protects the circuit incase of any fault.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ISOLATOR AND CIRCUIT BREAKER • Isolator is an off-load device while circuit breaker is an on-load device. • Isolator is a switch operated manually , which separate the circuit from power main and discharges the trapped charges in the circuit. • Circuit breakers operate automatically ,triggered by electromechanical mechanism inside and are a safe feature for abnormal loads and voltages in the circuit.

  17. 17. LIGHTNING ARRESTER  A device which protect equipment from over voltage in the basic of that which they are designed.

Relays A relay is automatic device which senses an abnormal condition of electric circuit and closes its contacts. FUNCTION OF RELAY • Relays are switches that opens and close circuits electromechanically and electronically. Relays are control one circuit by opening and closing contacts in another circuit.
