Summary of Qualifications:
Ten years experience as head coach or assistant coach at a variety of levels. The athletes range
from Major Bantam age level to University and/or Club level. I have also coached both male
and female players which provided me with an interesting perspective of the different thought
processes. I have also enjoyed the opportunity of coaching in the USA and Canada which
allowed me to experience the different approaches in both countries which has only enhanced my
understanding of the game.
My role of assistant coach involved recruiting, public relations, practice planning (team and
individual), scouting, game tape break down and assisting with travel plans if required. I have
also created individual workout sessions specific to players’ strengths and/or weaknesses.
During the games I would be responsible for some of the statistical information Head Coach
wanted, input during time outs and speaking to individual players on the bench.
As the Head Coach my responsibilities included practice plans, transportation arrangements,
deciding on what tournaments to attend, relay scores to convener of school leagues,
communication with parents and principals when necessary.
As an instructor at basketball camps I would be responsible for the planning of drills in regards
to the specific fundamental(s) I was asked to teach at the variety of camps I was employed at
over the years. The level of athlete involved would help to determine the skill set level I would
have to prepare for.

Playing Experience:
12 year member of Canada Basketball Senior Women’s National Team
22 Years Basketball Experience
My playing experience involved a wide range of levels. I was fortunate to experience high
school, provincial, university and Canada’s Senior Women’s National Team. This great
experience involved travel around the world which meant being away from home and all the
amenities we are use to in North America. When travelling with the National Team to foreign
countries we would try to bring some amenities from home to make our experience easier.
Playing with the provincial, university and national team learning to handle adversity was a part
of the necessary experience. At time there were hostile fans, poor transportation and/or
accommodations. As a player I learned how to become more adaptable and to quickly not worry
about what I could not control. I realized that handling such adversities such as language barrier,
poor transportation, accommodation, and schedules were an important part of being able to play
and compete no matter what the situation. I have also experienced the thrill and excitement of
being a champion, the lows of suffering difficult defeats, difficulties of staying focused when
winning by a large margin and not giving up when being beaten rather easily. All of my
experiences as a player have prepared me to be a coach who realizes that I cannot control all
aspects, but to make sure I take care of and control what I can as a coach; as well as preparing
my players to embrace this approach in any situation.
