UNSW News, Arc news and PVCS news, UNSW students use Smart phones and want access to information about the university made available through their mobile devices. Students want and expect the latest information to be always available at their fingertips. Boston Uni: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWa0U5pUffg Smart phones, such as iPhones, Android phones and tablet devises, such as iPads, are expected to have an explosive growth in upcoming years. Campus Maps: GPS data points are being collected and verified from a number of different sources to ensure mapping data is complete and appropriate. The campus map feature will offer students both Interactive Mapping and Augmented Reality interfaces to be used around campus listing information for locations, directions, virtual tours and directory assistance. The UNSW Green Trail will be a component of the campus map. Transport Information: Supported and integrated with the maps app and including timetables for Sydney Buses, UNSW buses (COFA and Green Square), links, contact details etc. It is expected that Sydney Buses will follow the lead of the Melbourne tram network and allow bus locations to be tracked on a map in real time. The installation of small and relatively inexpensive GPS devises on the UNSW COFA bus would allow students to track the location of these services in the same way. Campus Sustainability: Green Trail Virtual Tour, Energy Consumption Data, Sustainability related locations
