Graduate Assistant, Lamar University, Beaumont, Texas, USA August 2014- Dec 2015
o Research work focusing Reactive Power Compensation in Micro fuel cell Chips, a potential replacement for VAR
Generators
o Integral member of the team responsible for setting up the Lamar Renewable Energy Laboratory at the Phillip
.M. Drayer Department of Electrical Engineering Lamar University.
o Responsibilities also Included procurement of lab Equipment’s.
List of Projects (Academic Research):
Project Description
Digital Signal Processing
• Filter Design
• Designed filters as part of the Digital signal processing curriculum
Advanced Electrical Drives
• Speed Control Of DC
motor Using STM32 ARM
Controller
• Speed Control Of DC
motor Using Arduino
Controller
• Interfaced MATLAB with STM32 ARM controller to generate a PWM signal which
controls the speed of a DC motor
• The Waijung block set from MATLAB was used to interface with the controller
• This was an extension of the earlier project, the STM32 ARM was replaced by the
Arduino controller to exhibit the speed control of PMDC motor
• A HMI using MATLAB was developed to communicate with the Arduino controller.
Power Grid Systems Stability
• Hybrid Fuel cell
• Built a Smart Grid solution with multiple co-generation units to improve the efficiency
of the Main Grid and also to use the same to control the Reactive power of system
• This involved building a Hybrid fuel cell involving two different chemistries PEMFC and
SOFC
• A model was built in COMSOL Multiphysics and its current densities were simulated
• Currently working on developing the model on MATLAB and simulate a Smart Grid
operation with components like fuel cell, DC voltage bank and CHP’s
• Additionally wind power can be simulated using a programmable power supply
