Students studying to be secondary school teachers attend a
PHBern basis year at the PHSH and then continue on at the Zurich
PHZ

German Courses Please note that courses at the

partner institutions are held in German. Intensive summer
courses are offered through the Consortium of Schools
found in the Lake Constance area
(http://www.bodenseehochschule.org).
In Zurich, 3-week intensive German courses are offered
before the start of the winter semester and 2 to 3-week
German courses are offered before the summer semester.
These courses are organised with the language centre
of the University of Zurich (Advanced / B level) or an exter-
nal institution. Please indicate on your application if you
wish to take part in such a course.
Accommodation The Schaffhausen School of
Education will organize accommodation in private families
in the area for a minimal cost.
Health Insurance For international
students coming to Switzerland it is compulsory
to have appropriate health insurance. For further
information on Swiss health insurance require-

Closing Date for Applications
June 1st for the following winter semester and
for the winter and summer semesters;
December 1st for the following summer semester.
If your application reaches us by May 1st,
an Erasmus grant provided by the Swiss government will be
guaranteed. After this, grant allocation will be on a first-
come, first-serve basis.

Examinations Exams are organized throughout the
year, usually at the end of a course or a set of courses.
Interim exams are held after the first year of studies.
Comprehensive exams take place at the end of the 6th
semester.
Partners The PHSH is a partner school of
the PHZH in Zurich. If students wish to take
additional courses at other institutions in
Zurich, please contact the International Office
of the Zurich University of Teacher Education.
