The same scale and speed applies to their digital world.

Our digital universe has

                                                              will become important.

  3. A new skyscraper is built every five days in China and by 2016 the country will have 800, four times the number in the US.You can tell the story how how 3 sides of the areas around your building were demolished in less then a year.
  4. Expecting close to 700 Million Internet users by 2015Reference greatest humanitarian organization of the last 30 years. – 300 million out of the poverty line.
  5. This information isn’t just content. It’s a representation of who we are, what we know, and will provide valuable insight on the next iteration of the web.
  6. Baidu, Youkou, Todou, Kaixin, Tencent, Alibaba, Jie Pang,Todou andYoukou just merged with 61% of the combined market now. It’s a big deal. They’re also traded on the US stock market as a side noteOn the second row, left to right:Sina Weibo, Taobao, Kaixin001
  7. Baidu, Youkou, Todou, Kaixin, Tencent, Alibaba, Jie Pang,They might not have our #s but they disproportionately more engaged. They create more content, and share more information.
  8. Worth talking about censorship but also about keeping us out’s impact for their home grown industry.
  9. Brother Sharp:Speaking of internet celebrities, Brother Sharp aka "China's sexiest homeless man," has been doing pretty well for himself since he was discovered by Chinese netizens. After appearing in a Guangzhou fashion show earlier this year and becoming the subject of an avante garde painting, he is now slated to have a movie based on his life.According to CNN Go: Mainland billionaire Yang Meimei announced that she plans to invest RMB 70 million in a movie about the extraordinary life of 'Brother Sharp,' a homeless man who became an internet sensation when a snapshot of him walking down the street was passed around as an example of homeless-chic style...Hong Kong model-actor Carl Ng is rumored to be one of the possible actors to play Brother Sharp in the movie about the real life of the human internet meme. Apparently Ng and Sharp look somewhat alike.Who knew there was such entertainment power in internet memes. Makes you wonder what's next - a play about Shanghai's prettiest bus ticket seller? Maybe a television series documenting the travails of Sister Fengas she tries to find her perfect husband?Another's trashy actions are often one's treasure, and this meme fits the mold. We had our Tila Tequila and Snooki, they have their Xiao YueYue. The type of hot mess who really should be avoided at all costs. Not only do her obnoxious actions make her undeserving of public attention, they seem to be aimed at getting just that. Which makes her that much more irritating. But alas, sometimes the allure of someone else's mis-actions is too hard to resist. This October, more than 17 million Internet users followed live updates of Xiao YueYue's romp around Shanghai during the October holiday, as told by "RongRong" a netizen of the Tianya Internet community. In a post entitled, "I thank this stupendous friend for bringing me such a dismal National Day," RongRong spews tens of thousands of words about her high school friend who openly speaks about her pubic hair, fluctuates between bawling and smiling within the blink of an eye, tosses underwear at security guards ... and other sociopathic antics. The suspicion that these allegations may be fabricated only ignited the fire, causing an all out human flesh search for evidence of the real Xiao YueYue. In the end, the whole gig was proved to be a publicity stunt and that the writer behind the scam was actually the complete opposite of the described Xiao YueYue. Try to tell that to the millions of followers and commenters on the blog. We still have an inkling that the real Xiao YueYue is out there somewhere.
My Dad Is Li GangA government official (deputy chief of the Baoding City Public Security Bureau) and father of Li Qiming, who in 2010 October hit two girls and killed one of them while driving drunk in Hebei University campus. He proceeded to drive away to drop off his girlfriend but was stopped by witnesses on his way back before leaving campus. When confronted, he challenged witnesses to sue him by saying “我爸是李刚” (“My Dad is Li Gang!”). Li Gang has now become synonymous with being above the law due to government connections.Xiao YueYuehttp://www.chinasmack.com/2010/stories/xiao-yue-yue-chinese-internet-celebrity.html
  10. Use this one to show the pictures of the ducks in the window or a Chinese market and I can make a point here.
  11. Shift to an emphasis on Inspriing.Colorado US Senator Michael Bennet introduced a bill last month that would grant greencard visas to foreign students graduating in specialties in science, technology, engineering and maths. The hope, he said, is that international students trained in America will stay in the country to help fill shortages in high-tech fields instead of returning to their home countries and perhaps ending up helping overseas companies compete with US companies. The proposed bill would create a new green card category for students graduating from US universities with advanced degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The bill would also give illegal immigrants a student visa if they enroll in a science, math or technology program as undergraduates.According to Bennet's office, more than 50 percent of the doctoral degrees that US universities awarded in 2009 in the fields of physics, economics, computer science, chemistry and other high-tech fields were to foreign students. Bennet noted that US immigration policies are causing US companies to lose out; Overseas companies are gaining a competitive advantage over US companies by employing US educated students."We're saying, 'America is closed for business,'" Bennet said. "Why force our best and brightest students, those whom we have invested in so significantly, to leave just as they are best positioned to contribute to our society?"More than 40 percent of the 2010 Fortune 500 companies were founded by immigrants or their children, according to Bennet. In turn, these companies employ more than 3.6 million people nationally and generate more than US$4.2 trillion in revenue annually, which his staffers say creates jobs for Americans and fuels the economy. If you would like to apply for a US visa, WorkPermit.com can help. WorkPermit.com is a specialist visa consultancy with over twenty years of experience dealing with visa applications. We can help with a wide range of visa applications to your country of choice. 12. Find a photo of a sea of Chinese people on mobile phones potentially. I’m open to conversation here. The Rise of the Chinese Smartphones (with Android)China’s smartphone demand may well lead to the country becoming the biggest smartphone market. The domestic smartphone market in China has set for a record growth in 2011, the shipments in China grew 58% in the third quarter, overtook the United State. The growth has been driven by an emerging wave of low-cost Android models from local Chinese brands such as ZTE and Huawei. ZTE claimed the world’s No. 4 handset spot in the third quarter, nudging Apple down to No. 5 spot. Huawei has beat out Apple too as is now the third largest manufacturer of smartphones in China market. Smaller companies like Meizu and Xiaomi, have released their new smartphones with rich functionality and attractive price. Both companies have gained a good market share in China. Internet companies like Baidu and Alibaba, joined in the party too. Baidu launched its Android-based mobile OS, hardware provided by Dell. Alibaba launched their new cloud-based mobile OS, which is able to run both Android apps and web apps, the phone was made by Chinese cellphone vendor K-Touch. Next year, manufacturers will upgrade their phones to Ice Cream Sandwich, and Android phones which only cost USD $50 are expected to hit the market.
  13. Interesting innovation environment that can be viewed in two ways. From the outside and by western standards there is talent and venture capital. From a Chinese POV (whether consciously aware or subsconcsciously) there is unregulated IP, and highly motivated people with tech skills that are chasing a dream of wealth. It’s a new God.Make sure to comment on the impact to our own VC and start-up culture in the US.More than 40 percent of the 2010 Fortune 500 companies were founded by immigrants or their children, according to Bennet. In turn, these companies employ more than 3.6 million people nationally and generate more than US$4.2 trillion in revenue annually, which his staffers say creates jobs for Americans and fuels the economy.
  14. Be ready for endless competition in China. China there could be hundreds of competitors for an idea. It’s rumored that there are over 4000+ Groupon clones in the market and over 100+ Android Stores. The will not compete in ways you are comfortable with. It’s way more aggressive and many will use practices that would be deemed unethical or illegal in the US. It’s definitley more cut throat, but there is an opportunity for innovation to rule. This is why most big US company can’t succeed in China assuming they get by the governemntretrictions they can’t play in the fast paced world where Guangxi (relationships) is so important.
  15. Include screen shots of weibo with indications of integrated video sharing.NOTE TO SELF: Make sure to mention the history of countries like England with the TV and view of cheap Japanese products. Anyone can fail here so don’t look down on micro-innovations.http://adage.com/article/digital/china-dominate-web-microinnovations/232966/
  16. Taobao - Taobao was launched in May 2003 by Alibaba Group after eBay acquired Eachnet. At first it was just a follower. But surpassed eBay-Eachnet 2 years later and became the lead. – They massively innovated with Alipay by recognizing how the Chinese would not pay for goods until they had them. There payment system leverages and escrow model.l  QQAt very first it was just a clone of ICQ, even its name was ‘OICQ’. And it was the first and only product of ‘Tencent’ (QQ’s company). Years later when it was as good as ICQ, Tencent renamed it to ‘QQ’. Now QQ is the best (if not one of) IM software in the world. And Tencent become an empire. QQ is not only an IM software now but a fully integrated social tool. By using a QQ passport, we have access to Tencent’s services such as IM, blog, ‘weibo’ (Tencentweibo, not Sinaweibo), interactive social casual games, MMO games, C2C, online payment, etc.
  17. 70% of Youku’s content is professional created. My friends under 30 said they watch most or all of their TV online. I mentioned it earlier they watch more video online then any other behavior. They just annouced a merger with Tudou giving them over 60% of the market. They could be YouTubes greatest threat to world domination.
  18. The implications are about chaning the way the world thinks. They are more in line with culture’s that are too foreign from our own. Countries that are the sources of biggest growth that we desperately want to take foot holds in and they exist all across Asia, South America, Africa, and the Middle East. I’ve heard of agencies throwing out the work from their London main office and defauting to the work from less experienced India based teams because they understand the mind set.
  19. This is Alibaba’s head quearters. There campus is significant. They’re poised for global expansion which will start in Asia and spread outwards from there.
  20. Some analysts predict that the industrial value of the Internet of Things over the next decade will surpass that of the Internet 30 times over, and say it will become a market that is worth more than $100 billion.
