9. National Solar Mission
NAPCC
In June 2008, National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC)
was announced, which included eight major national missions.
JNNSM is one of the eight Missions under NAPCC.
National Solar Mission
JNNSM was launched by the Prime Minister in January 2010,
with the objective to help reach grid parity by 2022 and help set
up indigenous manufacturing capacity. The objective of JNNSM
is to establish India as a global leader in solar energy.

exceeded 2.5 GW in May, 2014
•Total capacity of 947 MW was
commissioned during fiscal 2013-
14 and Madhya Pradesh added
highest capacity of 310 MW.
•Higher contribution came from
state-policy driven projects at
1,322 MW, followed by MNRE
projects at 688 MW.
•Gujarat (916 MW), Rajasthan
(730 MW), Madhya Pradesh (347
MW) and Maharashtra (249 MW)
topped among others

prestigious Presidential Grant under Demonstration Programme on
Tail End Grid Connected Projects for eight Solar Plants

– Competitive Bidding with Techno-Commercial evaluation for ensuring
quality and cost
• Huge Land Requirement
– Rooftops on TPDDL Grid Substations in Delhi, where land is a scarce
and very costly resource

– Grid Interactive Power Plants with no Battery Banks for improving
efficiency.

– Low Capital Cost has lowered tariff to large extent thus benefitting the
Consumer in many projects.
