Choose one of the options below to research and explore:
Option 1
Choose one specific dissociative disorder discussed in Chapter 8 to explore. Briefly summarize in one to two sentences the diagnostic criteria for your chosen disorder. Research and present the potential causal factors and possible treatment strategies for the disorder. Why are dissociative disorders difficult to diagnose and treat? What is the role of trauma in the development of dissociative disorders? As a reminder, Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) has distinct symptoms and criteria and is not a personality disorder, which we will explore in Module 6.
Option 2
Briefly summarize in one-two sentences the diagnostic criteria for schizophrenia. There are many well-researched potential genetic and biological causes for schizophrenia. Our text also explores potential psychological and sociocultural factors that may contribute to the disorder. Taking into consideration the diathesis-stress model, and information now available about neurocognitive deficiencies that accompany schizophrenia, explain how research findings regarding psychological and other sociocultural factors can be reconciled with the more widely supported biogenetic approach to causality. How would one be able to tell when an individual is "delusional" versus having non-delusional beliefs that differ from the societal normal? How should cultural and sub-cultural variation be taken into account when assessing psychotic symptoms? What non-medication treatment approaches may be useful in reducing symptoms of Schizophrenia?
Option 3
Choose one specific Somatic Disorder discussed in Chapter 8 (Table 8.2) to explore. Briefly summarize in one to two sentences the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria for your chosen disorder. Research and present the potential causal factors and possible treatment strategies for the disorder based upon academic journal research and not a summary of the textbook. Are there risks to attributing physical symptoms to solely psychological causes?

Leadership Philosophy and Action Plan MGT 604
Knowing and refining your principles and your approach toward
leading people is a lifelong
exercise toward being an effective leader. Using the principles
of this class, you will outline your
leadership philosophy and an action plan for your own
development in approximately 10 double-
spaced, typewritten pages. It is important to note that a major
objective of this course is for
students to apply the course material to their own situations and
self-improvement. To assist with
3. this objective, your action plan should outline the specific steps
you would take to implement
selected aspects of the course. The purposes of this exercise are
to give you (a) the opportunity to
develop a concrete strategy for changing some aspect of
behavior or of yourself that you feel
needs development, (b) added appreciation for the complexity
involved in applying behavioral
science concepts to managerial problems, and (c) an additional
opportunity to demonstrate your
mastery of the course material.
Your paper requires you to reflect deeply upon yourself AND
integrate those reflections into
what you will have learned in the course. Be sure to integrate
material from the readings into
your thoughts. Cite those concepts appropriately and list your
references in a reference section at
the end of your document (the reference page does not count in
your length requirement). I do
not care what style you use for references, so long as you use
one.
In this essay, you must address the following:
1. Look inward. In this class, what have you learned about
4. YOUR strengths and needs for
improvement regarding leadership and interpersonal
effectiveness?
2. Look outward. Contemplate your own leadership philosophy.
That is, how can you most
effectively harness your own strengths to motivate others
toward a goal? If you had to
condense your leadership philosophy down to 10--no more, no
less--guiding principles,
what would they be? (Make sure you pick your own, not ones
that others have written or
that you find anywhere else.) How do these principles reflect
both who you are and what
you now know about leadership and interpersonal effectiveness?
3. Look onward. Describe, in concrete, actionable terms, your
action plan for becoming an
increasingly effective leader and team member. This section
should include a description
of your specific goals: short-term (the next 12 months), mid-
term (1 to 3 years), and long-
term (3 to 5 years). Then, describe your strategy for achieving
these goals.
Your paper should be presented as an essay, with an
introductory paragraph, the sections listed
5. above, and a brief concluding paragraph. Your paper should be
no less than 9 full pages, and no
more than 11 double-spaced pages, with 12-point Times New
Roman font, double-spaced, 1-inch
margins.
The paper must be submitted via Blackboard by 11:59 p.m. on
the date listed in the syllabus.
I will use the following rubric to grade your paper:

Overview
It is time to start thinking about the case study project. This
project simulates the process a mental health provider might go
through in case supervision or consultation, wherein one
presents for feedback:
1. the pertinent details of a client's social history;
2. the onset and symptoms of the identified problem
3. the proposed diagnosis
4. the features of a client's internal, social, and environmental
strengths as well as challenges or weaknesses
5. the proposed course of intervention
The first step in completing the case study project is to choose a
movie or book character from any movie or book of your
choice. You will use this movie or book character as a fictional
client who has sought your professional help for outpatient
therapy. You will be presenting this client for review in a mock
clinical supervision/consultation session where your fellow
classmates are your professional colleagues. The more
interesting the character, the more interesting the project will be
for both you and your classmates.
Outcomes
1. Identify and differentiate the classification of psychological
disorders
2. Evaluate treatment approaches
Instructions
Submit a 325 word paper describing the movie or book
character you will be focusing on for the Case Study Project.
Write a brief synopsis of the movie or book and describe some
of the character's traits and behaviors. Explain why this
character might make for a good case study. Also, indicate the
preliminary diagnoses you plan to investigate while assessing
