Need help designing beautiful but simple print collateral for your nonprofit or library? Save-the-date postcards, bookmarks, and double-sided event invitations are a great place to begin and Adobe's InDesign is the most popular tool to use among printers and designers.
Watch Wes Holing, one of TechSoup's in-house graphic designers (who learned the trade from trial and error), to go step-by-step through designing a double-sided invitation postcard for your organization in this free, 75-minute webinar.
We share a basic sample you can use to start, even if you have no design experience at all, and walk through customizing it for your needs, sharing best practices for working with professional designers and print shops along the way.
We demonstrate using InDesign as part of Adobe Creative Cloud, but many of the design tips, steps, and principles are relevant if you have InDesign as a standalone product or as part of Adobe's Creative Suite.
Also, U.S.-based organizations can participate in our #CelebrateAdobeCC contest for a chance to win $1,000 or other prizes from August 15 through October 15 by submitting your collateral designed using Adobe products. Learn more at www.techsoup.org!

17. Creative Cloud Myths Debunked
Below are a few of the most common misperceptions that we hear about Adobe
Creative Cloud as well as the truths
• Myth #1: Desktop apps run in the cloud in my browser—not on my desktop
False. Your creative desktop apps like Photoshop, InDesign are installed
and run directly on your computer
• Myth #2: I have to be constantly connected to use my apps
False. Your creative desktop apps are installed and run directly on your
computer. You only need to be online to install your software
• Myth #3: I’ll lose all my files if I leave Creative Cloud
False. You will continue to have access to the files that you save on your
computer
• Myth #4: Creative Cloud means that files need to be hosted versus stored
locally
False. Your creative files stay on your computer unless you choose to sync
them to the Creative Cloud

Editor's Notes
The "K" in CMYK stands for key because in four-color printing, cyan, magenta, and yellow printing plates are carefully keyed, or aligned, with the key of the black key plate. In printing, a key plate is the plate which prints the detail in an image. When printing color images by combining multiple colors of inks, the colored inks usually do not contain much image detail. The key plate, which is usually impressed using black ink, provides the lines or contrast of the image. However, in two-color images where neither color was black, the key plate might have been printed in the darker of the two colors.
