BREEAM In - Use
(Building Research Environmental Assessment Method)
 	BREEAM – In Use is independent (third party) environmental assessment of existing
buildings determining the impact and performance of their buildings. Helps to
reduce operational cost and overall building management. The BREEAM – In Use
assessment gives a clear overview of a buildings environmental performance
and can lead to informed management decisions.
 	BREEAM - In Use is a complex assessment system, concentrating on number
of categories namely energy consumption and use of sustainable energy
resources, its impact on environment, quality of working environment, facility
management use of environmentally friendly technologies and procedures.
 	BREEAM - In Use is the most frequently used certification scheme
in Europe.
	 Reduce the overall operational costs of an asset
	 Enhance the value and marketability of assets
	 Set a single „green“ standards for a portfolio of assets
	 Improve the technical condition of an asset
	 Increase efficiency of property management by setting
	 the correct processes
	 Follow the latest trends in the field of Property
CERTIFICATION PROCESS IN GENERAL
STAGE 1 - Pre-Assessment*
Assessment of the current state according to the BREEAM In-Use criteria,
finding out the expected score, identifying strong and weak parts, and
possible arrangements.
* By the Pre-Assessment inquiry the client does not commit to other activities and does not have
to continue in the certification process.
STAGE 2 - Professional consultation
Documents preparation, internal policies and procedures implementation, the
development of specialized studies etc. Implementation of refurbishment and
necessary adjustments within the building.
STAGE 3 - Certification
Site visit of a BIU certified auditor. Verification of the actual building state and supplied
documentation of realized adjustments. Certificate issuance request.
