Narrated Abu Huraira:
Allah's Messenger (‫)ﷺ‬ said, "(The performance
of) `Umrah is an expiation for the sins
committed (between it and the previous one).
And the reward of Hajj Mabrur (the one
accepted by Allah) is nothing except
Paradise." (Sahih Al Bukhari 1773, Book 26, Hadith 1)

Importance of Hajj
A person not performing
Hajj in spite of availability
of resources is considered
not a Muslim 
When one is capable of
going for Hajj, it is not
permissible to delay it. 
If a person dies before he/
she performs Hajj, then
this obligation must be
fulfilled by his heirs on his
behalf.

again.”
(Narrated by al-Shaafa’i in his Musnad;
classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Irwa’ al-
Ghaleel 686)

Messenger of Allah ‫ﷺ‬ instructed Abu
Bakr ‫عنه‬ ‫اهلل‬ ‫رضي‬to tell her to do ghusl
and enter ihraam.

Ayesha ,‫عنها‬ ‫اهلل‬ ‫رضي‬ said: “We went out with the
Prophet ‫ﷺ‬ on the Farewell Pilgrimage. I came to

Makkah when I was menstruating and I did not

circumambulate the House or do Sa’ee

between al-Safa and al-Marwah. I

complained about that to the Prophet ‫
ﷺ‬
and he said: “Undo your braids and comb your
hair (i.e., do ghusl) and enter ihraam for Hajj…”
(Sahih)

All pilgrims must be on Arafat
on the 9th. Without this, hajj is
incomplete. It is Wajib to stay in
Arafat till after sunset.
Maghrib is not prayed in Arafat,
unless you are still there at
midnight.

Muzdalifah and pick necessary
pebbles. Spend the night in
Muzdalifah and perform the
Wuquf of Muzdalifah

After the moon has set, the
weak and aged people could go
to Mina to do the Jamarat

sacrifice
If a sacrificial ticket is not
purchased then proceed to
slaughter house in Mina for
sacrifice.
10th Dhul Hijjah: Yaumun Nahr
Step 7 10th Dhul Hijjah: After the
sacrifice, shave/trim your hair
For men shaving head is
preferable, or cut hair equally
from all over head starting with
the right side
Women need to trim

1 inch of hair
Remove Ihram, as restrictions are
now lifted, except for marital
intimacy (which is lifted after
Tawaaful Ifadah)
He can then take ghusul, wear
normal clothes, and use
perfume
Recite Takhbir as often as he
can, till after Asr of the 13th day
10th Dhul Hijjah: Yaumun Nahr

10th/ 11th/ 12th Dhul Hijjah: Leave
for Makkah to perform
Tawaaful Ifadah with Sa’ee
Tawaaful-Ifaadah can be
performed anytime up to sunset
of 12th Dhul Hijjah. Procedure is
same as for Umrah
Upon entering al-Masjid ul-
Haraam with the right foot,
recite Dua entering Masjid
No Ihram required. Start at

al-Hajarul-Aswad (Black Stone)
Once Tawaaf is complete, offer
2 rakaats anywhere behind the
Station of Ibrahim
Drink Zam-Zam water – Make
Du’a

Perform Sa’ee
Upon the completion of the
Sa’ee, all restrictions are now
lifted
Upon leaving al-Masjid ul-

  • 17. Virtues of Hajj 05 06 07 The Dua of persons doing Hajj and Umrah is granted by Allah
 ‫وتعالى‬ ‫سبحانه‬ A person who dies enroute to Hajj or Umrah, will still get the full reward. If a person dies while he is in Ihram for Hajj or Umrah will be raised on the Last Day reciting Talbiyah.

Importance of Hajj A person not performing Hajj in spite of availability of resources is considered not a Muslim  When one is capable of going for Hajj, it is not permissible to delay it.  If a person dies before he/ she performs Hajj, then this obligation must be fulfilled by his heirs on his behalf.
