  2. 2. Business use of mobile devices Mobile Phones have become an essential tool in all businesses regardless of sector, type or size. Despite this the use of mobile phones by business owners, managers and staff is not without its challenges: Advantages: • Improved customer service • Improved communication with the office, customers and suppliers • Increased mobility • Increased productivity • Remote working • Cloud connectivity
  3. 3. Business use of mobile devices Disadvantages: • Workflow disruption • Compromised work-life balance • Cost • Legal issues • Data privacy issues The following slides highlight some of the ways that you can make better / more efficient use of the devices you carry with you each day.
  4. 4. Track and manage expenses There are numerous apps available for mobile devices to aid the recording and management of business expenses. From scanning of receipts to storing on the cloud or automatically adding to claims. An app such as Microsoft Lens which is free to use in an excellent tool for scanning and recording expenses and storing them in defined locations on the cloud for future claims.
  5. 5. Make presentations You can use a phone, or preferably a tablet to show a customer your ideas for a job or to showcase previous work and testimonials.
  6. 6. Take Customer Orders or Information for a Quote You can use a mobile device to take the necessary information to enable you to provide a quote or products/services for a customer. By using a ‘Form’ or Power App you can ensure that all the required data is recorded and stored on the cloud. In this way it can be immediately accessed from the office.
  7. 7. Accept Payments Only 14% of small businesses owners, in a recent survey, take mobile device payments. Tools such as Square, Intuit, GoPayment and PayPal Here are easy to use and allow you to take credit and debit card payments. Even if your business is not mobile you can use these technologies to do away with queues at the checkout by equipping sales floor staff with mobile POS systems.
  8. 8. Get Customer Signatures Speed up the process of getting that contract moving by using digital document signing apps and / or forms to gather customer signatures directly on the tablet. These same approaches can be used to hand over when work is completed allowing the customer or client to confirm that they are happy with the work and the interaction with your company.
  9. 9. Use Photo and Video Photographing a site or location for some work allows you to use ‘markup’ to add to the photo to clearly show the work that you intend to carry out. Similarly, the use of before, during and after photos or video is a good way to demonstrate work quality and progress to a client. They can also be used on your website as examples of work completed.
