The Invercargill District Attendance Services – helping the youth of today succeed has pro-

you help your child/ren attend school and explains the importance of why attendance and
lateness needs to be addressed. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact
either myself or the service directly.

Many thanks to all the parents who attended interviews. It is a great opportunity for you to

Text Messages: If you are
not receiving text messages
from the school office it
could be because of a tech-
nical fault through eTap
(Student Management Sys-
tem). If you have a telecom
number (027) but are with
another provider (Vodafone)
then there lies the problem.

2. HANDY HINTS : LEARNING TO WRITING:
During interviews all families were given the official handwriting
letter formation sheet, showing how to form letters, moving into
linking. To help your child/ren form the best handwriting habits,
check and correct letter formation and grip when you see them
writing incorrectly. It is so much easier to learn the correct way
the first time around, than having to unlearn and then relearn.
Put the formation sheet on the fridge door – get the children to
go over the top following the arrows to practice.
Is learning to write a dying art – I don’t think so … not for a while
yet. Even in using some computer programmes, or applications,
you have for form letters. Many places still ask for handwritten
letters when applying for a position – and you still are required to
sign your name to make any documents official. Therefore learn-
ing to write is still important in todays world.

Spare Clothes: Because of
the time of year students
are getting dirty wet clothes
when they play outside so it
might be a good idea to pop
an extra set of clothes in
their school bags so they
have something dry to
change into.
