help with this, if you are leaving at the end of the year
(other than the year sixes)
can you please advise the
office or myself. We don’t
like saying goodbye – but we

PRINCIPAL’S RAMBLE
Kia Ora, Talofa lava and Welcome to Week 4 – Term 4 (hate to say it but … 5 weeks of school left !!
What a great start to the term, swimming – it is great to see students confidence grow. Next year there
will be a slight change to the swimming programme, we will be swimming in Term 1 only – dates to be
confirmed. The reason behind this, is that with introducing our Education Outside of the Classroom programme in Term 4, the term becomes over loaded.
EDUCATION OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM:
What a fantastic week that was. The Year 6 Camp to Cromwell had sun and great kids enjoying the challenges (well the biking was a bit tough!!!). Meanwhile, back at school the Marae visit was fantastic and
all the students appeared to be engrossed in the story telling, then fun on the beach and great rock pool
exploration. The Year 5 sleepover was ―absolutely fab‖ according to them.
SOCCER TOURNAMENT / COLLEGIATE SWIMMING RELAYS:
What a great day the soccer tournament was, rain but fun. Parents took teams for practices and on the
day, were all magnificent – without this help the staff would have had a bit of a struggle to run the event
at the same time. The four students in the swimming relay team, well done, we hear you represented
the school proudly.
SO A VERY BIG AND WARM THANKS TO ALL OUR PARENTS WHO WERE ABLE TO SUPPORT
THESE ACTIVITIES – WITHOUT YOUR SUPPORT THESE OPPORTUNITIES ARE
HARDER TO ORGANISE.
I ALSO THANK ALL THE STAFF – AGAIN, WORKING TOGETHER TO PROVIDE THESE OPPORTUNITIES
TAKES TIME AND ENERGY.
HOT DATES TO DIARY OVER THE NEXT TWO WEEKS:
CHECK OUT THE LEFT HAND COLUMN OF THE NEWSLETTER FOR UP AND COMING EVENTS.
But next is:
13th - The Year 5/6 Puberty Evening for Mum’s/Dad’s/Boys and Girls – get your RSVP’s back please.
15th – Elgrego visiting performer – school library.
19th – Sports Southland Soccer Tournament for the Year 4/5/6 team.
29th – All library books due back – start looking under that bed
STUDENT END OF YEAR DISCO:
Like last year, the staff are running a disco for the end of year treat – whole school – Tisbury Hall – Friday 8th December – 1:30 to 2:30ish. This is the major reward for all the students who are in the GREEN
section of the classroom behaviour chart on Thursday, 7 December. There will be chips and drinks
available for sale. More information next newsletter.
PARENT TEACHER ASSOCATION:
Many thanks to the parents who attended the ―coffee and cake‖ night. What a delight to hear the cool
ideas. The staff have agreed to work through the idea of having ―family houses‖ where the children can
come together to form family groups and compete for house points or rewards. It all sounds very good
leadership opportunities and good fun. PTA’s first event is to be a ―Xmas Craft‖ night – read the inserted
flyer.
The next meeting – November, 21st at 8:00pm, at The Rocks – more coffee and cake
CALANDERS:
What a great effort by Miss Searle and the Teacher Aides - $450 has been deposited into the PTA account. Calendars will be sent home today. Must say, they look absolutely wonderful.
REPORTS:
As part of the legal requirement and the school’s procedures for reporting to parents, staff are currently
working on your child’s end of year report. These are due home on the 7 th of December. Parents will be
invited into the classrooms during that afternoon to view the Art Folders and share their work from this
term and at that time collect their report.
There are only two newsletter left for the school year. So until the next one, take care and enjoy any sun.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
ROAD SAFETY: School Vests – these are
very important for ALL students safety. Especially coming to and going home from
school. IT IS ABOUT BEING SEEN TO BE
KEPT SAFE. Wearing and bringing vests to
school all go towards your child being in
the GREEN for the behaviour management
chart – so help them, remind them, talk to
them about the importance of wearing
their safety vest. Thinking about the end
of the year, vests need to be washed and
returned by Wednesday, 11 December.
