By 2015, IDC forecasts that the mobile worker population will reach 1.3 billion.
Unify’s New Way to Work Index revealed insights from research gathered from
January to February 2014 from 300 executives in the US, UK and Germany. The
research asked about the habits and constructs of successful virtual and remote
work teams. Here are 5 things to remember when working on teams to yield results.
BE PERSONABLE
71%Seventy-one percent of successful teams engage
in personal & non-business conversations with
colleagues daily or weekly.
BE CANDID
84%Eighty-four percent of those on successful
teams are as likely to disagree on virtual
calls as they are in face-to-face meetings.
Eighty percent are as likely to pitch a
spontaneous idea.
COLLABORATE
77%Seventy-seven percent of successful teams say
less than one-fourth of their meetings are
one-way monologues.
REACH OUT
86%Eighty-six percent reach out to keep in touch
with colleagues at other sites regularly.
DISTANCE
85%Remember, distance doesn’t matter when it
comes to good work. Eighty-five percent of
the most successful teams have over 1/4
of their members in different locations.
