5. Technological factors to be
considered under the Empathy
Plan
Evaluating the feasibility of different
technologies to create solutions for skilling
that are technologically viable and scalable.
Understanding the user experience and
designing solutions that are intuitive, user-
friendly, and accessible.
Considering the potential impact of
emerging technologies, such as artificial
intelligence and blockchain, on the solution.
Identifying potential technical challenges
and constraints, such as compatibility with
existing systems and security issues.
Which stakeholders to interview
and Why?
Interview/survey the Government of Haryana
to know the already existing initiatives that are
there in the field of education and the skilling of
youth.
Interview them to understand how much
finances they have for education and skilling of
youth so that solutions can be devised
accordingly.
Interview the survey bodies to understand the
existing skills of youth and to understand how
much effective the current initiatives are.
Interview the youth, parents, and guardians to
understand their aspirations for the future, and
what they expect from the government and
from the educational and training institutions.
Interview the Educational and training
institutions to know their processes, benchmark
them against existing best practices in the
industry, to understand their financial and
human resource needs
Interview the NGOs to understand their current
initiatives and how they can be a support system
for the Government
Interview the Industry and employers to
understand what are their expectations from the
youth, what skills and trainings are prerequisites
for the jobs they offer, what future trends they
expect in their respective
fields/sectors/industries, and their suggestions
to improve the current educational and training
programs.
Business factors to be considered
under the Empathy Plan
Understanding customer needs and pain
points to create solutions that solve real
problems.
Identifying market trends and potential
opportunities to create solutions that meet
current and future demand.
Considering the business model and
financial feasibility of solutions, including
revenue streams, costs, and potential risks.
Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure
that solutions align with business objectives
and priorities.
Current Problem Statement
What can the Government of Haryana do/facilitate over the next 10 years
to ensure readiness
of its youth for relevant livelihood opportunities both inside and outside
the state in a
sustainable manner?
Elevate the problem statement according to the insights that you
find from the observations after you interview the stakeholders
Ideation Stage – Generating ideas, prototyping,
and testing
The scope of the case competition was limited to idea
generation and choosing the best idea among all according to
the operational and financial feasibility.
6. Disadvantages of using Design Thinking
• Time-consuming: Design thinking can
be a time-consuming procedure,
especially when considerable research,
testing, and feedback are required.
This can make it difficult to develop
rapid solutions, which may be required
in instances of education.
• Resource-intensive: Design thinking
may also be resource-intensive,
necessitating substantial expenditures
on research, design, and testing. This
can make it difficult for firms with low
resources to effectively apply the
concept.
• Limited scope: Although it can be used
in complicated situations such as skill
development, it may not be adequate
to address all the problem's root
causes.
Advantages of using Design Thinking
• User-centered approach: Design
thinking prioritizes stakeholder
requirements and preferences. This
approach can uncover the lack of
proper skilling reasons and propose
more effective solutions.
• Creativity: Design thinking fosters
innovation and creativity, which can
help solve difficult issues like skill
development. This may reveal novel
solutions.
• Iterative process: Design thinking
requires feedback to test and improve
solutions. This helps solutions work
and last.
