9. School at the Centre of Community - Partnering for Possibility – March 2011 – R5 000
Our Group Development Manager is presently involved in a project aimed at supporting the National Planning Commission’s view
that Education is one of the two “most pressing challenges facing the country”
.
In a nutshell, the programme entails the following:
• A business leader becomes a learning and development partner to a school principal
• Together they are tasked with one of the toughest challenges facing our country: to engage parents and other members of the
community around the school to partner with the principal and teachers to educate our children.
• The business leader (Partner for Possibility) and principal (Principal for Possibility) are supported through formal training, coaching
and communities of practice
The benefits are enormous for the business leader, principal, teachers, parents, learners and for all of us in South Africa.
The Vineyard Hotel & Spa have partnered with Fairmount High School’s principal – Mr. Terence Klassen.
The investment is valued at over R42 000.

their rooms and baking cupcakes for the children. One of the children drew a thank you note for our “boss” thanking him for allowing
our trainee’s to take part.
June 2011 this year our students chose James House in Hout Bay as their social development project. On Wednesday, 22nd June the
students got to work giving the jungle gym a fresh coat of paint, sprucing up one of the meeting rooms, planting trees, assembling
