  1. Michele Good afternoon! I’d like to welcome you to Call ‘Em Out: How to Call Your Audience to Action which is part of the Visix free webinar series. This webinar is scheduled for 30 minutes. We’ll be sharing with you some information we think is useful for the first 20 minutes or so. And, we’ve allotted about 10 minutes for Q&A and comments at the end. If you have any questions, please feel free to type them into the chat box. I will keep up with those and we’ll answer them at the end of the session. We’d like very much to hear what you have to say during the webinar so I encourage you to send us a message if you have information and/or resources to share with the group.   2. In Call ‘Em Out: How to Call Your Audience to Action, we’ll talk about:
  3. A Call to Action or CTA is An image or line of text that prompts your audience to take action It’s what you want your audience to do. You want them to “buy now” or “signup today.” It’s the ask – and if done right, it should be irresistible
  4. Encourage your audience to take a particular user journey with a particular destination in mind You are actually telling your audience what to do which helps you have more control. Greatly increase active participators If you are not currently using Call to Actions and start to use them and 1 person signs up, You have already increased the amount of viewers you were certainly aware were paying attention to your displays. Produces obvious and measurable results Can help define whether or not your content converts
  5. Eye catching design Invest some time into the proper colors, fonts, and images, make sure that your Call to Action is placed in an area where your audience is going to see it. Begin with subjects and verbs; Use adverbs sparingly Subjects and verbs quickly help us glean the meaning of the message. If there is no verb then there is no action and your audience will not move Adverbs recognized by their “ly” ending have no fixed position in a sentence. According to Dan Zarella’s Science of Social Media research, adverbs are the part of speech that get the fewest number of shares on Twitter. Include numbers Numbers are a great way to break through the clutter of ambiguity, be specific about your offer and set right expectations You can mention a specific discount, or list a numerical impact or benefit of a particular resource you are providing For Example “Join more than 2 million college students worldwide!”
  6. Keep it short and concise You don’t want convoluted content that will take your audience a long time to read. You have a limited opportunity to catch and keep your viewer’s attention Make language less technical and more practical Although the language may be specific to your organization, stay away from technical jargon, use words that suggest that the piece of content can improve your audience in some type of way. Emphasize the benefits that you offer and how it can make them better or smarter Let your audience know what they are getting or how they are contributing If you tell your viewers the truth you will build trust and gain more involvement Incentives are a good way to get your audience to do something. Everyone wants to feel like they made a difference of some kind so tell your audience how close or far you may be to your goal
  7. By targeting the right keywords in your call to action, you can make the transition from traffic to conversion easier ,earlier, This may take a couple of tries before you get the right match but the key words should always clearly state what you want the user to do  If you have interactive displays you can create buttons similar to websites and use hotspots to direct your audience to your desired destination
  8. Ineffective CTA’s lack specific details. As you can see from these examples the first set of key words do not let your viewer know what they will receive for following your lead. Tell your audience what they are doing and why or how they can do it. Incentives are a great way to get action. The item can be something that is always free, but you must make it sound as though it is the best thing since sliced bread!
  9. Can there be too many CTA’s in your message? Absolutely!!! The purpose of a CTA on your page is to give your customers the hint of what to do after reading your message so you keep their attention the entire time. If there are too many hints, the message may confuse your audience Don't overdo your calls to action, it will overwhelm the visitor and ultimately get them away from the track, or funnel, you want them to go down. One effective Call to Action can be much more effective!!!
  10. Your visitors are really busy, and they don't have time to read through and figure out what you want them to do. It's up to you to tell them exactly what you want them to do by making the Call to action large and obvious in the message . As you can see this call to action is small and at the very bottom of the page. It should be much larger and placed closer to the rest of the message. This would enable the viewers to clearly see the call to action and hopefully buy tickets!
  11. You should definitely take into consideration your audience when choosing a Call to Action. Ask a few questions Does my audience use smartphones or social media ? Does my audience even have an app to convert my QR code. Just like any other marketing tool, you need to think of your demographic before putting time and energy into a call to action message. Otherwise it will be a waste of time and resources.
  12. Now that we have discussed what not to do, Lets talk about some ways you can get results with your messages! The first effective Call to Action is SMS or text messaging This type of message can be used to appraise your audience through surveys and polls, comprehension checks , even fundraising pledges. You can secure a plan with many online providers, then design your message with the questions, the phone number where people send their votes and a list of options with the corresponding SMS codes.
  13. You can use QR codes to send views to a website, have them vote on a poll, or offer a downloadable coupon Creating a QR tag is easy using one of the many free online generators . Simply put a dedicated URL you want the QR code to point to and it will generate an image file that can be read with smartphone cameras. Make sure that the tag is in a place where your viewers can use their apps to capture it!
  14. Smartphone snaps are a fast, easy way to drive traffic. The destination can be a physical location, social media site or photo sharing portal. Simply ask viewers to take a snapshot of your message with their phone, and tell them where and how to deliver it. One creative idea is to have an animation or video running and ask people to “snap” an image of something that floats by – like your logo or mascot – to get a discount or win a prize. Can you find the logo amongst all of these delightful treats?

Integrating feeds from your social media pages into digital signage content is a great way to add followers and inspire them to participate so they can see their posts “on the big board.” Drive viewers to your Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages by integrating them into your digital signage. Post your social media URLs as often as possible to gain followers and reinforce communications. These new followers will continue to be a part of those active participators we discussed earlier
  17. This requires a touchscreen display. A hot spot is an interactive button that people press to switch from the standard layout to the kiosk mode. You just insert an image into a separate content block in your layout and designate the target you want it to point to. What better way to call your audience to action? You can guide your audience through the that journey we have been discussing. By using a single display for both daily announcements and an interactive kiosk, you get twice the real estate for your money.
  18. Uniting a QR code with social media and a free giveaway can be a winning combination. Not only will your user be excited to receive the free item, but they will also be a follower for your future endeavors all while using a fun app on their handy smartphone!
  19. Return on Investment can also be described as Return on Involvement as it relays to your digital signage – When deciding how to measure your return, ask yourself will the Calls to action yield a benefit to the investment was made? Is the digital content that was created worth the time and effort to take action? Track the number of hits on your designated URL from scans to your QR codes Count the number of people who deliver the smartphone snaps ,email addresses obtained, and followers from your social media CTA’s Quantify or chart the survey results and instantly show these results to your audience on your displays through your twitter feeds
